Tux vs. Suit...

My dad really wants to wear a tux...FH dad does not. Is it ok if I have my dad in a tux (since he walking me down the aisle) and FH's dad can wear his black suit? I think...to my dad...this is 'his day' too...and I don't want to make him wear a suit when he wants to wear a tux. What do you think? Will it look funny?

Re: Tux vs. Suit...

I'm having this dilemma too- my FFIL wants to wear a black suit and a regular tie. But I wanted them both in tuxes and bowties.

Re: Tux vs. Suit...

To me..I don't care if FH's dad doesn't want to wear the tux...but I don't want my dad to feel 'jipped' (sp?) out of wearing one...and I don't want to make FH's dad feel guilty because he doesn't want to.

Re: Tux vs. Suit...

I luckily don't have that problem...both my father and my FH's father want to wear tuxes. My father actually wants to buy the same one my FH dad has as he thought my FH's dad looked really sharp at my FSIL's wedding...

Re: Tux vs. Suit...

Its fine if they don't match. Especailly b/c heis walking you down the isle, so he is memebr of the bridal party, and there fore shoudl wear a tux.

My FFIL owns a tux, so I guess he will wear it, but I think I'd prefer that he rent so they match or that he would where a suit. As long as there are no blue leisure suits, like they've been discussing.

Re: Tux vs. Suit...

My Dad also wants to wear a tux but FH bought a really formal black suit. I am encouraging my Dad to buy a suit, but if he winds up renting a tux then so be it...

Re: Tux vs. Suit...

I want the father of the Bride to wear an astronaut suit.. and my Dad to dress like Cousin It. (glasses, derby and all...)

Allrighty.. now that I have that out of my system..... I think the Bride's Father will probably be in tux.. and my Dad in suit..

It really doens't matter if they match.
