When do you mail out international invites?

Also, do you give an earlier RSVP date? Is there anything else different I will need to do (we are doing the invites ourselves)? I am putting an e-mail response option on the response card...

I sent those out first. I didn't change the RSVP date but you can if you want to.

Sue - How much earlier did you send them? 4 months, 3 months before the wedding? I am sending US and Canada 2 months before.

I'm sending mine out late summer with rsvp date in December. They need all the time they can get to make travel arrangements. Good luck.

We sent ours out 3 months in advance. But we'll only be engaged for five months so by the time we booked hall, and ordered invites, 2 months had gone by already. Our guests seemed to make their travel arrangements just fine, but it is a slow time of year for travel and rates are fairly cheap.

I think we are going to send them three months ahead, maybe sooner. The invitations are ready, we just need to get them assembled and addressed. I think the time depends on whether or not the people have to apply for a VISA.

We did send out save the dates christmas of the past 2 years to people. They are from all over - europe, middle east, phillipines (I don't count Canada).

But oh my VISAs! Middle east = visa trouble!

I need help with this too. My FI has a lot of relatives from Ireland (his dad is one of 11 and 9 of them live over there along with all of his first cousins). We are extending invites to all of them, not expecting a lot of them to come. We are also required to guarantee 200 at our reception so we really need to know how many from Ireland will be attending. I thought about ordering my response cards with two different response dates, but how early is too early for a Septmeber 3rd wedding? Thanks for your help...

We sent them around 2 weeks earlier and gave a later RSVP date.

We had a lot of extended family in Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, Russia, Japan, and Canada. We sent our international invites in mid-February 2002 for our August 2002 wedding. We sent our domestic OOT and local invites in June 2002.

i sent them out 4 months before the wedding. but had stds sent out almost a year ahead
