My co-op saga continues.............looooong vent
Ok, so this has, by far, been the worst experience of my life, trying to get a co-op....Here's the timeline:Early November - we find a co-op and they accept our bid
One week later they tell us they've accepted another bid over our's
Late November - We find another co-op that we like (much cheaper so we're happy) they accept our bid and we're off to start getting a mortgage....
December 11th - I go in and fill out all of the paperwork for the mortgage (A SONYMA mortgage to save on closing costs)
We go through December and not a word about the mortgage
We go through January and every time I call it's 'Oh, I just need this and then you'll be all set....' (EVERY TIME I CALL THEY SAY THIS)
February 3 - They have sent in the paperwork and hear back that SONYMA WILL NOT approve our co-op complex
, but we can still get a mortgage through them - it will be a slightly higher % rate (not terrible) and we will have to cover closing costs.....not happy about that, but I'm willing to deal with it.I tell them to go ahead with it and they say it will take 1-2 days.
5 days later, I get the papers that I need to sign in the mail......
So, this morning, I faxed the papers over to them and called to see that they had gotten them. What do they tell me?
You're going to love this.....'I am now qualified for a SONYMA loan.....they reviewed everything and SONYMA WILL accept my complex.....' So they sent my paperwork off on Friday and should hear something by tomorrow!
Did anyone call me to tell me this?
Are they trying to drive me insane?????
Is anyone else as frustrated with this process as I am?
I hope we love this co-op, becuase after this, I'm never moving out!

It will work itself out. Just be patient and try not to get too frustrated (I know it's hard).Remember you pretty much have no control over it. Just keep giving them the paperwork when they ask for it. It will end.

Re: My co-op saga continues.............looooong vent
Buying our co-op was the WORST process I've ever gone through. We placed the bid in August 2002, which is also when it was approved. We closed in FEBRUARY!!!! It was painful...paperwork like you wouldn't believe, approval processes by everyone, trying to coordinate our lawyer, the sellers lawyer and the managements co's lawyer. It was ridiculous. I told my husband I want nothing to do with it when it's time to sell....
Good luck with everything!

I am so sorry you are going through this! Our purchase of our co-op wasn't to bad.
We put a bid in on April 28 and closed on August 11th.
It ook a little longer than expected but that was bc the seller was waiting for his new place to be ready. Good Luck!
