Re: Anyone know anything about the Forest City Park area of Wantagh? Homes seem to more reasonably priced SD is #5 Island Trees

Do you mean Forest Lake? I grew up there and my mom still lives there. DH & I now live in the Mandalay Bay section of Wantagh, and I have cousins in the Wantagh Woods section.

I'll be happy to try and answer any specific questions.

ETA: I just realized you said it's in SD#5, which is Levitown schools. We're in #23, Wantagh Schools. Sorry!

Re: Anyone know anything about the Forest City Park area of Wantagh? Homes seem to more reasonably priced SD is #5 Island Trees

We really like the area. We both grew up there and decided to buy his parents house when they retired. One of my colleagues just moved to Wantagh Woods this summer and she kept saying how nice all the neighbors are. And the commute to the city is very reasonable, 45mins on an express and 1 hour on a local.

I'm sure we are biased, but think the schools are good. We've both done well for ourselves since coming out of Wantagh HS.

I've been told that SD #23 is better than #5, but as you can see from the difference in price, #5 is much more affordable!! Not sure specifically what may be wrong, etc, if anything though.

Terri actually in recent years, I have been told that SD 5 reputation was something from years ago, from what I have heard the SD is pretty good now.

Thank you

Re: Anyone know anything about the Forest City Park area of Wantagh? Homes seem to more reasonably priced SD is #5 Island Trees

Island trees is a decent district...

and taxes are pretty low (much lower than levittown) b/c all that commercial business on hempstead turnpike is zoned in island trees...so the tax payers there get a break...

but it is part of Levittown...so they will probably be remodelled Levit houses

My cousin-in-law is a teacher and will be sending her daughter there, so it can't be that bad!

Sometimes the reputation might get a bit exagerated I think.

My old boss who is a brilliant man (won $25K on a history game show) lives in Island Trees..and his kids go there

there was a supreme court case revolving around Island Trees ...on censorship...not sure if that is where the controversy comes from...
