Re: Any one spending Valentine's Day (night) alone?

My fiance'll be working 3-11 too. Could be later if he gets overtime. I was really pissed because he worked Valentine's night last year too, but then they changed his group, and he's working the night of it this year too.

Does he happen to work for KEyspan too? I bet my DH will get overtime too and then the night will be a complete waste!

Re: Any one spending Valentine's Day (night) alone?

That's so funny. He doesn't work for Keyspan, but he works for Con Edison which are the same kind of companies. What line of work does he do? My fiance works underground and was just promoted to splicer. Looking forward to 9 months' of retro pay next month.

Ever since that accident where the woman got killed from being electrocuted, there has been a lot of overtime. Lately it hasn't been as bad though.

I will not say alone, but when we get back home from dinner he will be watching all of the pre All star game activities on TV. So that is where his attention will be for awhile.

He is a gas utility mechanic..He checks leaks in peoples houses, turns service on and off and does the digging and pipe repair in the street. He looks so sexy in Keyspan orange!

Ooh orange. Con Ed is all about the blue. Con Ed does gas and electric, but my fiance works more in the electricity part. I never know what the hell he's talking about though when he talks about work.

Re: Any one spending Valentine's Day (night) alone?

My husband is supposed to work 4 - 12am, but he is supposed to get off. There is always the chance he wont be able to. I think at the very least, he will take a half day or something and come home by 8pm and then we could head out.

I know how you feel though...

Re: Any one spending Valentine's Day (night) alone?

Me too!! He's working. Ah well. I'm not a huge V-Day person anyway. But still, it sucks that it's our first married one and we won't be together. I'm hanging out with a single girlfriend that night.

Re: Any one spending Valentine's Day (night) alone?

I'm not so mad that he has to work nights for V-day because it's not that big a holiday. I will be upset though that this year he has to work 3-11pm Christmas Day and then 7am-3pm New Year's Day. That'll be the first time we're celebrating them married.
