Update on dad-now with some happy pics

My dad was in the hospital a few weeks ago and I want to thank all those who calmed me down.

But now, 4 months before the wedding, my dad is diagnosed with lung cancer. He says the wedding cannot stop no matter what happens. I just don't know right now.

So, a message to all those smokers out there - put down those cancer sticks now! The next time you want to smoke, think about how 20, 30 years from now, if you choose have kids, one of them is getting married, and your life can be ending right at that moment that should be the happiest time of the family's life. Think about how you might not be there for that special time because you let those nasty things get control over you mind! Fight the addiction.

OMG, I am sooo sorry. Try to stay positive...there's alot they can do for cancer. AND I couldn't agree more about those who smoke!!

I'm praying for your dad. Stay strong! I totally agree with you about smoking. It's no joke. I smoked for 13 years. At the age of 28, I had a cancer scare when a cyst was removed that was in its 4th stage pre-cancer...meaning...one stage from the real thing. My MD put me on Zyban and I quit with really no bad cravings. It will be 3 years as a non-smoker on March 1st.

As someone who is going through a bad illness with FH's Dad (who is like a Dad to me also), I can only send you my love and support.

btw, I quit smoking myself, cold turkey,and absolutely no cravings! FH (or myself) couldn't be happier..

I am sooo sorry!! A good friend of our family is fighting this as well!

I agree with your father dont postpone the wedding! My reasoning...A few years ago (well like 10) my cousin post poned his wedding b/c his father was ill, they actually postponed it twice but my uncle didnt make it! (he was very ill for a LONG time previous, not early on in his disease) they really thought he would get better. My other cousin got engaged and pushed up his wedding, learning from his brother, so his ill mother could be there! She was soo happy to see her son get married. For that one day she didnt have to think about being sick!

With dealing with the illness, I think it would make your father feel even worse to knwo that because of him you pushed off a day you were soo looking forward to.

I still went for my first fitting today...here's a pic to cheer up the day...

I am going to show him the pics (he asked for them) to cheer him up and get him motivated to get better...
