How long should it take to get your wedding photo albums?

We just starting meeting with photographers and were wondering what the normal amount of time is to get your completed photo albums after the wedding. It seems like it takes forever. Thoughts? Thanks!

I believe 6-8 months after you meet with the photographer for album set up is the norm.

ETS - this is for a traditional wedding album, not a digital book.

It depends on what type of album you are getting. We got the digital album and we JUST finished approving all of the layouts, the cover & the cover picture YESTERDAY (It would've been faster if I wasn't psycho about one specific layout- we went through at LEAST 4 revisions on that one)... so, I should have the album end of March.

I am married almost 10 months & I don't have mine, if I can ever get the damn changes done, I'll have it maybe for my wedding anniversary?????

Thanks ladies. I understand it could take much longer if you have a bunch of extras or special requests after you see your proofs. We just wanted to make sure that the 8 month time frame we have been given so far is reasonable.

for all the $$ dished out one would think it would be in hand the following week and made of gold...

You get your proofs immediately but most photographers do not make the albums themselves and remember each album is a custom order.

You meet with your photographer and go over your album pictures (some couples ask for touch ups), they need to be enlarged, mounted and bound, etc.

This is done by a third party album company that works for probably hundreds of photographers in the area.

i'll be taking care of my own, i hope that i will be able to get it done sooner, but who knows...

My photographer just told me our proofs would be ready 3 weeks after the wedding and that once we give them our choices for the albums, it would take another 3-4 months to get our albums.

we have patken...

proofs 2 weeks after the wedding
then when you pick the pictures for the album its 12-16 weeks(which is 3 to 4 months)
