Today we put in our first bid and had our first turn down. I hate it.

We really liked the house and went to look at a couple more, then we decided to make an offer. We'll our real estate agent tells us that they have two more offers and she hinted that they were more than the asking price. We told her to forget it then. We are not getting into a bidding war. Does this happen alot? I dont mind paying the asking price, but why should I pay them more?

yes that happens alot. But make sure the house is worth it. Dont pay 400K for a house that is only work 325K..

I don't think I would pay over the asking price unless I couldn't find any other decent house, the bidding war is nerve wracking, just stick to your budget and you will find the perfect house for you.
