Macy's Trunk Shows

Has anyone ever been to one and did they offer a discount on the dress? I read somewhere that they usually don't - that it's just an opportunity to meet with someone. I could really use a discount - who couldn't so please tell me what I can expect.

Re: Macy's Trunk Shows

That's where I found my dress.....they were discounting them about %15 or %20 depending on the price of the dress.

Re: Macy's Trunk Shows

Im not sure how it works with different designers, but I went to the Macy's Demetrios trunk show and I gathered that the discount was only for the current collection, not past collections.

Re: Macy's Trunk Shows

yes - the macy's trunk shows normally come with a 10%-15% discount. when i bought my dress, i didn't realize that the trunk show was the day before. macy's in manhasset actually gave me the 10% off anyway, even though i was a day late. i loved the macy's in manhasset - service was always excellent!!

good luck!!!!

Re: Macy's Trunk Shows

So they only give a discount off of the current collection? Darn! The Demetrios dress I am looking at is from a previous collection.

i don't know if that is necessarily true. my dress was discontinued about 3 months after i bought it, so i doubt it was from the current collection, and i still got the discount.

Re: Macy's Trunk Shows

I don't know about the trunk show, but Macys is by far the most expensive place to buy a dres. You can get them to meet other prices, but the ticket price is so expensive. I saw a Demetrios dress at RK for $1450, some stores in LI for $1350 and then at Macys (the direct distributor of Demetrios) for $1850!!!!

Just price around before you buy dress!

Good luck!

I got a discount on my 2nd Demetrios dress. It was a Demetrios sale and Trunk show. I bought a stock piece (floor sample). Macy's mostly has (as far as I know, double check) Demetrios, Maggie Sottero and one or two other designers.
