Bikram Yoga for Fitness
Anyone tried Bikram Yoga?
I heard it's the hottest thing for getting in shape and get rid of toxins. This yoga but in a room with raised temperature, so you realy sweat your a** off. :)
I am trying to find a center where i can take classes in LI or Brooklyn. Can anyone recomend a place?

I have taken these classes and they are HARD! When they say you sweat...you are literally POURING SWEAT....
You have to make sure to be hydrated before and after....It's a great workout...
This place is great!

Re: Bikram Yoga for Fitness
My boss once mentioned a class to me. I think it was in Commack.
I'd LOVE to try this, since I've done other yoga (Hatha) before and truly love it.
I just don't know if I could stand the heat!! I feel overheated when it hits 80 degrees outside. LOL.
ETS: Here's one in Dix Hills.

I used to take Bikram Yoga at the NYHRC here in NYC.. what a great kickass class... they increase the temp in the room so that it resembles India's heat.. you sweat like an animal!

Re: Bikram Yoga for Fitness
Hatha yoga is a very gentle, flowing style of yoga that focuses on deep breathing and is almost meditative in quality.
It's different from the more "active" styles of yoga, like Bikram and Iyengar, which move you through each pose faster. Bikram yoga is also known as "hot yoga" and is done in a heated room....120 degrees!! Yeeks. The heat is supposed to relax the muscles more, allowing you to be more flexible, and also to make you sweat out the toxins in your system.

Re: Bikram Yoga for Fitness
The room is heated intentionally to allow you to work deeper and safer and to warm your muscles. The heat also heals, helps prevent injuries and promotes sweating which flushes toxins out of your system.

Re: Bikram Yoga for Fitness
good stuff!!
I took few yoga classes at a local Bally's, but looking for something more professional. Then I saw Bikram Yoga done on Queer Eye, and Jessica Simpson swears by it.
I cant find anything in Brooklyn, so next best thing is to treck into the city. It will suck to be all sweaty and heeted up on the train, LOL.

Re: Bikram Yoga for Fitness
Fitness Incentive in Babylon has a ton of yoga classes. Also - a yoga place opened up right in babylon - right off of 231 by Gemelli's - can't think of the name right now.
