Dry Cleaner Question on Prices

I went to drop off 9 button down dress shirts to have dry cleaned. There was a sign on the window that said $.95 for laundering of dress shirts. I miss took that sign for dry cleaning. The price for dry cleaning was $2.35 a shirt if I pre paid, which I did or $2.75 to pay when you pickup.

Are those crazy prices? These are mens dress shirts that I dropped off.

If these are crazy prices, can someone recommend a good dry cleaner in the Lynbrook, ValleyStream area?
Thanks,
Scott

Re: Dry Cleaner Question on Prices

I think I pay closer to $3.50 or $4.00 for a blouse.

Re: Dry Cleaner Question on Prices

you should have your shirts laundered...not dry cleaned. They still press and starch them (if you want) them when they are laundered. Why pay more $$$ when you dont have to. The reason you get clothes dry cleaned is beause you cant wash them. Cotton and/or Poly dress shirts are a definate wash in my house!!

Re: Dry Cleaner Question on Prices

Did you try PURRRRFECT cleaners on Central Ave? or this Asian guy further down on Central towards ALden Terrace?

how about American?
are they for men or women's shirts?

Todd gets his shirts laundered with starch in the collar.

Re: Dry Cleaner Question on Prices

Hmmm...I figured that I could just wash it at home, and I have been doing that, but I noticed that the color isnt as bright as it used to be and some of the shirts have a little discoloring in them.

If I get it done at the Dry cleaning place, wont that happen still?

American is really expensive. Im not sure where those other places are that you mentioned.

Re: Dry Cleaner Question on Prices

I don;t know I went to catholic school all my life and Alway wore dress shirts. I threw them in the washer and dryer or sometimes hung them to dry but then ironed them right away with a hot iron and some starch. Never had a problem. We hardly ever use the cleaners except for good dresses or suits or maybe good sweaters. FH family sends everything to the cleaners including jeans. IMO dont really see the need.
