My 1st Newlywed Post! Name change question...
Hi all! I have a name change question - I did not change my name, but when we received our marriage license, it was addressed to Mr. & Mrs. [my husband's name]. If you did change your name, did you receive some sort of notification of the name change? Just wondering if I should assume it was a clerical error on their part or just an addressing convention, or if I really need to be worried that my name has been changed against my will!
Many thanks!

Re: My 1st Newlywed Post! Name change question...
I didn't receive any notification that I can legally change my name. Once I had my marriage license I just started changing my name on everything. Make sure that you didn't check that you were changing your name, and that it remaned the same on your license.

When we applied for a marriage license, I did check the box that said that I was going to change my name, so when the certificate arrived, it did say Mr. and Mrs. Rxxx. However, this is only a name change on your marriage certificate. You will need to go to Social Security, DMV, and all the other places that has your maiden name and change it yourself.
