'Why dont you wear a nice white pantsuit' - my grandmother

I spoke to her and she cant understand why I am having such a 'big wedding' why cant I just wear a nice white pantsuit and go to the justice of the peace, then we can go out for a nice lunch and send you on the bus to Atlantic City like she did!!!

Ugh because its not 1950, because thats not what I want to do, and because its mine (and my FH's decision!)

I love getting unsolicited advice. True I am a little short on funds, but I never complained to HER!!!

OMG I actually find that really cute and funny coming from a grandma!! LOL I can imagine her pulling the slot handles in her white pansuit! CHA-CHING. Go grandma!

My FH's MOTHER has said that!! Of course she was married about 50 years ago.. so she and FFIL can't get their minds around what we are trying to do at all. (FWIW: the open bar issue came from them!)

My own mother said that her wedding cost around 200 bucks althogether and what am I doing with a 5 figure budget??!!

So - I smile. I say 'yes Ma'am'..... And I do what I have to do.

That's great. FH and I got engaged while visiting his grandparents in Florida and when we mentioned 'honeymoon' his grandma said 'Honeymoon? You're in Florida right now, this is your honeymoon.' Thanks but um, I didn't plan on spending my honeymoon in Boynton Beach Florida with my FH's grandparents!!!

They're just too funny, they really come from a totally different time.

You should start a little book of quotes for all the dumb, annoying, rude, or just plain silly things people say when you are planning your wedding!

How old is your grandma? Mine is almost 92...She's always saying nuttty things like that. Her favorite story is about how a dog taught her how to swim. LOL

Funny. I love grandparent's. My grandmothers sisters are so funny. They said they can't remember my fiance's name so they are going to call him Solo. (That was the name of my DOG when I was growing up!!!!) It is nothing close to his name either.

They crack me up!

My cousin also my BM, said that I am planning things too early. She said I don't need to book my honeymoon until 21 days in advance!!!

my gradnfather has been callign my fiance my 'beau' since I met him,
Especailly when he isn't there, I always get ' Where's your beau'
I wonder if he knows his name?

Well Im sure she meant well just doesnt understand. Im tight on funds too.. which is why my mother DOESNT know that Im married already.. then she'd keep my father from coming in Oct.

but i didnt wear a nice pant suit.
