My FSIL is so 'right' all the time (long vent, sorry)

So, yesterday we celebrated Easter with my FI's family, and my FSIL was there with her family. Now, keep in mind she doesnt particularly like me, nor did she like his ex-wife or any woman he ever dated except for the one or two she fixed him up with and boy did I used to hear about them. Ok, so she had her 30.000.00 wedding and her husband paid for the whole thing and thats fine. I am on a tighter budget and want a completely different wedding than her so every time I do anything, its wrong. Well, yesterday she asked me what my colors were, now her daughter is my FG and she is going to wear ivory with a pink sash to match my dress and I told her my sister is going to be in burgundy and my Jr Bm is in rose. Her response, 'That doesnt go together, its going to look ridiculous'. My response a smile 'No, actually its very classy looking'. Then she asked if I was still planning on wearing ivory and my response was yes, I already ordered my dress (Duh). She then asked about my honeymoon and we told her that we are planning on going to a resort in the Bahamas and all she said was 'Its hurrican season, cant you do anything right'? Again, I just smiled. His sister is so quick to judge what I am doing as far as the wedding, the house we are buying or anything we do with his daughter (who I have a wonderful relationship with) but yet she never acknowledged our engagement nor offered to help unless its done her way. I had to vent, but I was so happy with myself because all I did was smile and not let it upset me. Less than 6mos to go, thank g-d.

it sounds absolutely beautiful to me.. and I feel for you.. my fi's cousin is the same way.. but not only about the wedding, everything.. my career, ugghh.. I am so sorry girl.. good luck

I am so sorry you have to put up with all this. Just remember this is YOUR wedding not hers & you can do whatever the he!! you want!!! You are so much better than she is -which you prove every time you just 'smile & nod'!!! GOOD LUCK & hang in there

shes just jealous that you get to have your big day and hers is long gone
she is trying to relive it through you
I also read somewhere that when people do stuff like this they are subconsiously trying to fix what they think the did wrong or regret from their wedding.


My fmil is another I know everything what do you know I have shoes older then you type

Your colors sound wonderful! Kudos to you for keeping it together! I wouldn't be so calm if I were you. If I were you, whenever she asked questions about the wedding I'd have to say 'I'm no longer sharing any information with you because you never have anything nice to say to me'! You're a better person than me!

Thanks. You girls letting me vent on here is what helps me keep it together with her. I appreciate the support. Today was wonderful with my family and we had so much fun, I am almost sorry it had to end.
