Hawaii Honeymoon question.. What places did you stay at that blew you away....
We're staying on Kauai for 5 days and we have a few days more to plan... where to stay
My question is...
What hotel/ inn/ B and B, etc... did you go on your Honeymoon on an island besides Kauai that COMPLETELY blew you away?
All answers are appreciated!

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon question.. What places did you stay at that blew you away....
That is a tough one to answer. I stayed at the Hyatt in Maui and LOVED IT! The hotel is so beautiful!! I also stayed at the Hilton Waikola Village on the Big Island. That hotel is beautiful too. They have a dolphin pool and you might have a chance to swim with them. They had a few pools and they have a boat or monorail to take you from one end of the property to the other.
There is a lot of sighseeing on Maui as well as a ton of places to eat. The Big Island on the other hand is much more quieter and less places to eat outside the hotel.
It depends on what you are looking to do on the island itself.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon question.. What places did you stay at that blew you away....
We stayed at the Grand Wailea in Maui and it was so amazing that we didn't want to leave for Kauai - it's incredible- rooms, service, the spa!!! If I go back to Hawaii, I will only go there. You can check out their website at www.grandwailea.com - here are some photos of the view from our room at sunset, the lobby, the adult pool and the fountains. Words cannot even begin to describe it!

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon question.. What places did you stay at that blew you away....
Not for our HM but we stayed at the Maui Hyatt this Feb. Very nice but not blown away..but the price was very reasonable considering it was Maui. If I was paying the retail price, I would have been very unhappy.
Ive heard mixed reviews on the Four Seasons..some people tell me its amazing, others have been disappointed. Ive heard nothing but raves about the Grand Wailea. When I went, the rates for both of these places was in the $500/night range which would have been a waste for us since we wanted to have plenty of cash to blow on the island. And trust me, there are plenty of thigns to spend money on
Have you checked some of the hotel rating sites on the web...you can usually get some good insights from them.
Hope that helps :D

Hyatt in Kauai Grand Wailea in Maui
Loved both!
I hear amazing things about 4Seasons on the Big Island. The Grand Wailea is next door to the 4 Seasons in Maui and it looked nice just not my style.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon question.. What places did you stay at that blew you away....
We stayed at the Princeville in Kauai which was absolutely beautiful. In Maui, we stayed at the Kapalua Bay which is a beautiful resort but far away from everthing else. You would definitely need a car. In Oahu, we stayed at the Pink hotel ( i forget the name...but everything is pink including the champagne.) It was beautiful and fun.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon question.. What places did you stay at that blew you away....
In Maui we stayed at the Renaissance in Wailea... it was beautiful, but honestly we were not in the hotel AT ALL. we were out and about doing stuff everyday. we came in late at night and left early in the AM. So IMHO don't go too crazy on your Maui hotel. There is so much to do you won't be in it!
And on the Big Island we went to the Four Seasons... um, talk about blowing you away! This place was a step below heaven on earth The Four Seasons had accomidations unlike anything. The service was amazing and this is truly the place to relax and let the hotel do all the work. It was absolutely incredible.
And even though you have a place on Kauai- The Princeville was absolutely incredible. This place is also another step below heaven. the views were the most extraordinary sights. I can't even describe what it's like seeing them in person!

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon question.. What places did you stay at that blew you away....
We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani-which is right next to the Four Seasons and Grand Wailea in Maui. It definitely blew us away--gorgeous hotel, all rooms (I think) were suites, huge bathroom, balcony, etc. The little details stand out to me though, like the staff bringing you fresh pineapple and cool minty towels while you're sitting by the pool. When we were in Kauai, we stayed at the Hyatt, which we also loved, by the way. I'm sure you will be happy with whatever hotels you choose. Hawaii in itself is just so amazing!

I loved the Hyatt in Kauai! The pool was just amazing!
but in Maui- the 4 seasons! WOW!!! They spritz you with evian, give you fruit and water while you lay out at the pool. The service is just impeccable!

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon question.. What places did you stay at that blew you away....
Kauai- We stayed at the Hyatt and absolutely loved it. We had a great view and it was beautiful. The lobby lounge was a nice plce to sit and have cocktails and snacks. There is music and it is so relaxing.
Maui- We stayed at the Four Seasons. Listen you can not go wrong with this Hotel. It is Gorgeous. The service is impecable. But I felt it was a bit stuffy. I felt out of place for a couple of days and the funny thing is I met another NY'er on our trip when we were waiting for the pool boy to take our names. He was so funny because we were commenting on how nice everything was and He leaned over to me and whispered... "I don't know about you but when I walk through the lobby I feel like I have no pants on" I just laughed out loud. But really If you plan on spending a lot of relaxing time at the pool it is really neat because they give you evian spritzes and fruit cool towel etc. But if you want a cabana you have to get up really early, (6AM-6:30) stand by your spot and wait for the pool guy to put your name down for the spot. Seriously I did this 3 times because we wanted the cabana shade. I thought this was crazy too when someone told me but there are really people down there that early claiming the spots.
A MUST DO .... Our best night in Maui was at the FEAST AT LELE. www.feastatlele.com Located in Lahaina on front street. This was what I would consider a formal Luau. The food was great, the show was awesome! and we had excellent seats. The back drop of the stage is the sun setting. You can't go wrong with this. It was a fantastic night.
DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.with .. The road to Hana... In my opinion was a waste of a day. Unless you are into hiking with the spiny socks and walking sticks you can not get to many of the waterfalls mentioned in the "Maui Revealed book" Ladies those pedicures will be muddy unless you are wearing sneakers or the special hiking socks. Honestly the most beautiful part of the road to Hana was the end. The seven pools and the scenic drive at the end were worth it so if you can go backwards.
Any Q's FM me.
