NWR.....Need advice.

Ok here it goes. I've been at my job for about 9 years. Honestly, I'm bored and just fed up with a few things. Is there any way to tell my boss that I'm looking for another job, going back to school, and he should just start looking for someone to replace me. I'm thinking of leaving no later than June-July, and I've received some offers already that will wait. I need to tell him soon. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Re: NWR.....Need advice.

It sounds like you are giving notice. If you do that, you are voluntarily quiting your job and you will probably not be entitled to collect unemployment. Why not wait until you do accept another job and then give notice?

Re: NWR.....Need advice.

i agree. I did the same thing. I am an attorney and it took me a while to find the right job. Three weeks before I was supposed to start my new job, I gave notice.

Turns out my new office wasn't ready for a few more weeks so my old job just let me stay on.

I wouldn't quit until you have somethign else lined up.

Re: NWR.....Need advice.

I'm the only one here, besides him and his wife. I would have to train someone.

Re: NWR.....Need advice.

If you need to train someone, you need to make arrangements with your present boss and future one.

I too, would need atleast a month to train my replacement.

Since your such a small office, I think they would be grateful to you for being upfront.

But only do this if your sure, they won't get upset and fire you right away.

Re: NWR.....Need advice.

I'm 100% positive that they won't fire me, because they wouldn't be able to deal with so many things at once.
