Re: reception venues - advice?
I've been to a wedding at these places...Timber Point CC - nice, small, food was OK
Captain Bills - very pretty, simple, food was great
Bellport CC - pretty, simple, beautiful grounds, food was delicious
Never went to a wedding at...Vineyard Caterers
Atlantica - was very interested in Atlantica, after seeing pics in a magazine and online. We visited...it's a small venue, wasn't impressed with the decor - the best part of the place, IMO, was the view. Breathtaking.
Good luck!

My cousin got married at the Bellport CC 10 years ago, and my family still talks about how great the cocktail hour was.

I'm getting married at the Bellport CC in Nov. They're just finishing redoing part of it- added a new bridal suite and tons of windows in the front. It really is beautiful and they are VERY accommodating to deal with. The food is really yummy too... :)
FM me if you want more specifics- I got 'em.
Happy hunting!

Re: reception venues - advice?
Timber Point CC - Lessings Family- my sister and friend were given quotes, when they went to book, it was much higher.Captain Bills- No first hand info
Bellport CC- Ate at the resturant, it was very nice BUT above the room where a party was. My chair was vibrating.
Vineyard Caterers- No first hand info
Atlantica- My cousin got married there, I thought it was overrated for the price, and I didn't think the food was that good. The only thing served at the CH was a raw bar- that could have been her choice but still.

Re: reception venues - advice?
Vineyard Caterers - Well Im getting married there in 23 days!!! HOLY CRAP!! Anyway. I think its beautiful. I have had nothing but an excellent experience with all the people there. They are willing to help in any way they can. The food is EXCELLENT!!! I have friends whove been there for other events and have raved about the food. Its one wedding at a time. The grounds are very nice as well. Can you tell I love the place.Atlantica - I was there Oct 2002. My cousin got married there. Honestly I thought it was a beautiful location but the chairs had stains on them, the windows were dirty. I know you are on the ocean but someone needed to take a hose and a squigie to it. I thought the food was good. And for a beach wedding... it cant be beat. But for the price, it wasnt for me.

Re: reception venues - advice?
Thanks, everyone! I'm looking forward to seeing all of these places. Most of the weddings I've been to recently have been out of town. It's helpful for me to know what other people think, since I want my guests to enjoy it as well (and from what I hear I won't be doing much eating on the big day anyway!)
Congrats to all of you on your weddings!!!

Re: reception venues - advice?
Good luck with your decision and have fun checking out these places.I can only give advice on Atlantica as we were married there this past September. They now have white chair covers so there are no stains on the chairs and I certainly didn't notice dirty windows if there were any!! We had three stations at cockatil hour and my guests raved about the food. I absolutley loved Atlantica and would recommend it to anyone. Yes, its pricey - but IMO, you get what you pay for!

Re: reception venues - advice?
i went to a wedding at captain bills in oct 2003-the place is nice and the food was good- only complaint it was chilly out for october and they didnt have the heaters on in the cocktail hour room-everyone was freezing- we actually had to ask the place to put on the heat-also- we used to dock our boat there and people were having there cocktail hour and here we are with our dogs in shorts and bathing suits with the boats motor running which was extremely loud- if you dont mind that then the place was really nice- i do remember the shrimp appetizer was excellent-they also have a no shot policy a lot of the people at this wedding were very irritated by this but if you dont have big drinkers then it may not be a problem-
just my opinion hope it helps

I am getting married at BCC in Oct. The people there are amazing to deal with - very accommodating to anything you ask for. The grounds are beautiful, being on the golf course, but it looks even more beautiful at night. And we have heard so many wonderful things about the place.Welcome New Vendors
