Swarovski Crystals... is it just me or...

does everything claim to have Swarovski Crystals when they are really just rhinestones? I feel like people are trying to scam me... how can you tell the difference in a picture?

I notice that a LOT , on Ebay especially.

They often will tout a certain tiara or jewelry as 'Swarovski' in the title , so when you search all these bogus things come up. But upon reading the description you realize that they aren't swarvoski crystals at all .. just rhinestones .. You have to really read the 'fine print'!

yup! just got swarovski chandelier earrings and when i got them, there is no mention of swarovski on them or the box or anything. still pretty, but i bought them b/c they were supposedly swarovski!

I could see if you paid extra for the name, how you'd be pissed. But if you like them, didn't pay a whole lot, who cares what name is on them?

look for 'signed' or 'swan' in your search on Ebay- that is how you would know they are authentic!

What if you purchase it at a store and they tell you it's Swavorski? How can you tell? Are we just suppose to believe them?

the tiara i got at davids bridal has a tag on it that says ' made with crystals from swarovski components

I generally agree witht hat theory, but if you are buying something on-line it is sometimes hard to tell waht htey look like, and if they are not Swarofsky crystals, they could be anything. They could be other crystals that look just as nice, or they could really good fakes, or they could be really cheezy rhinestones.
In person, rhinestones look different than crystals, and cheap ones can look really bad sometimes.

Its just that if they are definitely a brand you know, you can trust they will be decent.
