Re: Vera Wang Sample Sale info!!!!!!!!!
I have been to this sample sale and I just want to let you girls know what you're in for. You either want to get there at 6am or be prepared to wait about 3-5 hours to get in. It does get hectic in there and I didn't find it to be worth the effort, though I did see girls walking out with dresses. Please don't convince yourself to buy a dress simply because it's Vera Wang. If you love it, buy it, but just don't buy it for the name.

Re: Vera Wang Sample Sale info!!!!!!!!!
I heard about this crazy sale.... there's actually an article about it in the latest Modern Bride... you should read it before going to this sale... the bride writing the article basically described her plan and experience in military tactics because that's how brutal this sale is! In the end she bought her Vera Wang gown for $50... but it was a BM dress... she was totally just in it for the name.

Re: Vera Wang Sample Sale info!!!!!!!!!
I know someone who also bought an ivory bridesmaid dress for $100 there and used it for her wedding dress. The BM dresses are really reasonable, the wedding gowns are still in the $2000 range.

Re: Vera Wang Sample Sale info!!!!!!!!!
I never ventured near the Vera Wang Sample Sale--I was warned of physical altercations over dresses and told to bring your own army in order to fend off people trying to take dresses that you want to try on. No wonder that woman used military tactics to describe her experience.
If you have the patience, it could be worth it. I think I would love to be a fly on the wall watching everyone there.

Re: Vera Wang Sample Sale info!!!!!!!!!
there are so many wonderful sample sales of other designers thoughout the year that are not like this one- they are tame and you can have a dressing room and sometimes, a salesperson will even help you! I went to a bunch of them and the worst one was the Michelle Roth sample sale- I sat in line for hours and found nothing. It is very disappointing to put that much time & energy into something to leave empty-handed!
I ended up getting my gown at a Paula Varsalona sample sale- they have them a few times a year and they are totally worth it! i got my $5K dress for well under $2K and it was nice and calm in the salon!

Re: Vera Wang Sample Sale info!!!!!!!!!
I actually bought my wedding dress from the Vera Wang sample sale in April 2002. It was a little crazy b/c there were so many people but all and all it wasn't that bad. I was on line for 3-4 hours but I met so many other brides from all over the country.
I paid $1500 for my dress and loved it!! Also, my dress was brand new still in the packaging!
So if you have the time and the patience it might not be a bad idea to go. Also, go early like 6am to get the best variety!
