Great Idea for a baby shower

A friend of mine just enclosed this poem in her baby shower invites. I thought it was such a great idea. Here it is...

I send to you my only request,
The very thing I'd like the best.
I hope it will not be hard,
To give me a book instead of a card.
Mom and dad will read to me at quiet times,
Exciting stories, peoms and rhymes.
But please don't forget to sign the book,
So I can think of you each time I look!

I thought this was such a great idea. What do you guys think?

I always love the book idea for a baby shower. Only problem with people signing in the book is if you get duplicates you can't return any. But I love the book idea.

I dont have a poem but they had this for my baby shower 2 years ago and I loved it. Luke has tons of books, which is wonderful. They didnt ask people to qrite in them but I think thats a nice idea. I wouldnt worry about duplicates. Trust me, as the parent fo an 18 month old who loves his books now, some of them will get trashed unless you are going to always put it out of their reach, which at first I use to do but now I leave some around b/c he enjoys looking at them on his own too and he cant do that if they're always put out of reach. Anyway, the point is you will use the dupes. Lukie got 3 'GUess How much I Love you' books and one is in the car, one is on the shelf and the other he 'reads' himself so it's a big dogged.

I say add the poem. a few people did write in his books and I wish more had, its very touching.


ETA: Do a search, someone else had the idea along with a poem awhile back...it might have been Laura? but Im not sure.
