Re: OOO For girls doing Votive placecards. Found CHEAP holders.

Here is a link to the seller- I think I lied and it may be more, I just bid on mine yesterday matter of fact, they have them for 65.88 and then ( prices must have gone up) 75.88 plus s/h ...I still think its the best deal I have seen online ( b/c online you pay shipping and handling which adds to the cost) and at Michaels the 3 for $1 is for just the votives, add the candles in and it comes to more as well....

Re: OOO For girls doing Votive placecards. Found CHEAP holders.

You print it all out on the vellum paper before you attach it to the holder. I think that in the example we've seen posted, the person used table names, not numbers, which is why it looks like the table isn't on there. I have the instructions saved at home, I'll post them when I get home.

Oh - here's another pic where they're all lined up.

Re: OOO For girls doing Votive placecards. Found CHEAP holders.

That looks like a great auction, but I was told you need to use tea light candles in the votive holders for the placecards....it's a good price, but what would we do with 144 votive candles and no tea lights?

Re: OOO For girls doing Votive placecards. Found CHEAP holders.

Placecard Candles Directions

You will need: Plain glass votive holders; light -medium weight transparent vellum; access to a Laser printer, a good scissors; double sided tape; tealights

Step One: Measure your votive holders to determine the approximate height and length around. Using these measurements, make a template of the shape of your label. Note that even the most plain votive holders will have a slight curvature, so expect the template to be in an arch shape.

Step Two: Using the approximate measurements, set up your MS Word (or any other graphic program that is useful for printing text) document to space your guests names and table numbers the right distance. In my case, I got 3 to a page with room to spare.

Step Three: Print out your document. Use the template you made in step one to cut the right shape out of the larger sheets of vellum. Set the labels aside.

Step Four: (get a friend to help if at all possible) Set up a big workstation with all your votives, labels, double sided tape and scissors. Wrap one label around the votive and trim accordingly. When the label is lined up correctly, it will lay relatively flat. Apply the double sided tape and put aside. Having all of the candles in front of you will allow you to keep a consistent appearance of the candles and give you a preview of what they will look like all lined up at the wedding.

Tips: Have candles lit no more than 30 minutes before your guests come to pick them up to ensure they are all still burning when the last guest leaves your reception.

Tip: Using tealights in place of votive candles will result in the candles getting warm but not too hot to touch. However, there is melted wax inside the votive so better to keep away from children.

Re: OOO For girls doing Votive placecards. Found CHEAP holders.

I LOVE THIS IDEA! ( wasnt sure what they were for when I posted the auction, the votives I am buying are actually for my Centerpieces BUT, now that I see this, the seller and some others have the votive holders ALONE, so we can buy them, I think it was $35.88 for 144 and then buy those huge bags of votives real cheap!!!

Can the guests really pick them up? Is that what they are suppossed to do?
I'm afraid that they will be placed too close together and hard for people to find their names?

Re: OOO For girls doing Votive placecards. Found CHEAP holders.

ok, this is a stupid question, but I'm planning on doing these too, and I want to know if you would make a candle for each person? Or would you do it like you would do normal placecards and do one per couple?

I really wanted a lot of candles at my reception, and this looked like a great way to integrate the idea, but I think that I would want one per guest to make the table look like it had more candles.

Ideas? Thoughts? Am I nuts?

Re: OOO For girls doing Votive placecards. Found CHEAP holders.

I would put it one per couple .. And then already have some of the same votives on the table around the centerpiece. I think one per person ( esp. If you have over 100 people) is going to be really chaotic when people are looking for theirs on the table. Plus you would need a pretty big table if you want to spread them out. - JMO
