Need your creative ideas for a 40th wedding anniverasry gift..PLEASE!!

My siblings and I are surprsing my parents are coming home to have a little party for them on their 40th wedding annivrsary..but we cant figure out what gift to give them, other than the party, we wanted to use their wedding photo from 40 years ago and a picture from when they renewed their vows a few years ago, but we dont know what to do with the photos...we were thinking a quilt, but need more suggestions, my sister and I are working on this and need all the ideas we can get!!! So if you can think of ANYTHING>>>please post it!!! Also, ca anyone think of cute little favors we could make , like a little keepsake? Thanks soooo much!!

for my parent's anniversary one year, we had a group photo taken of all of the kids in the family...maybe you can do that with spouses included....
i like the quiltt idea though - much more unique.
maybe a video collage of the pictures of their lifves together....start with childhood photos for each of them, and then them together, and then with kids, and then the kids, and then end with the renewed vows picture......

I love the photo collage idea...that would be beautiful..but unfortunately for us, our parents are in Oklahoma and they have ALL of their childhood picrures..we wouldnt be able to get them without them knowing. We are having a family photo being taken when we are all there, our family is scattered allover, there are 5 kids , two of which are in NJ, one in Texas, one on Okla and one in California, so the only time we will be together to take the pic is when we will be there for their anniversary. This is hard...

Alicia, I have been sitting here for an hour trying to think of something. What about a picture frame with three frames in it and in the one, their wedding picture, the second their vow renewal and the third empty to put a pic from their party.

Ooh, I just thought of something. When my granparents had their 50th way back, the family took their old wedding picture to someplace and the guy made an oil painting out of their wedding picture. My stepmother also did this recently with a pic from her and my fathers wedding. The oil paintings come out so pretty. Just some suggestions. Sorry, my brain isn't working too well.

i was going to say the oil painting idea of the wedding picture its looks beautiful my cousins had it done for my aunt and uncle.

you can also do a collage with there wedding picture on top and then the wedding pictures of all of there children on the bottom

I was also thinking of making them a CD of love songs from every decade for the past 40 years, we will put their wedding pic on the CD.and he first song they ever slow dancedtoo( they were 14) is what a wonderful world..so that will be the first song on the CD.!! I going to check into the oil painting and the triple frame...you ladies are GREAT!!!! THANKYOU!!!!!!!!

just a shot in the dark.....but my sister did this for my parents and they loved it - not sure if everyone would though.
she took a picture of my parent's house to an artist and he painted it onto a plate that is now displayed over the fireplace. my parents are both really into family and thier home, so it was perfect....plus with all four of their kids either moved out, or in the process of moving out, it was really sentimental for them.
maybe you have something that would be sentimental to them like that also?
