I like Provincetown....its artsy fartsy...and a lot to do...But, be warned..do not go if you are homophobic, its like teh gay and lesbian capital of Mass!! But, its all in great fun..and can just sit back and do people watching if you feel like it!
Plus, with the legal gay marriages, Ptown is THE PLACE to be from what I ahve heard!

I love Newport! Got engaged there. There is a lot to see and do, and they have beaches if you want to relax. We stayed at a B&B that had an outrageous breakfast. My favorite activity was touring the mansions. Definitely look into Newport.

Newport has the best night life, bar after bar after bar!!! It'll really be picking up soon, it's a big summer town, so it'll be really great memorial day weekend.

Be prepared for traffic if you drive to New England Memorial Day weekend. I've made that trip a few times, and it is horrendous.

Are you going to take the ferries if you head to New England? If so, better book NOW!Newport has THE Night Life!!
But, uif you wanna go to Providence one night (Its about 40 mins away by car) You should go May 29th...its Waterfires that night, right in downtown..its sooo romantic and calming, and beautiful...its very hard to explain, but you will find out the info on this website: Waterfires
YOU can go have dinner somewhere Downtown, and then stroll through waterfires, and just enjoy yourselves..its really an amazing thing...

Re: memorial day weekend...need some suggestions...PLEASE!!!
I'm going to have to agree with Newport. My friends got a house there for the summer, so I may actually go Memorial Day weekend. It's awesome there, so many options. I don't knnow what your budget for the trip is, but FH and I have gone and stayed in Westerly (it's a beach town), you can take day trips anywhere from there- Mystic, the casinos, Newport, Providence, Block Island, etc.. You definitely will NOT be bored.
