Wedding ring story - you won't believe this one - long vent!

So my FH and I go on April 10th to order our bands. We went to this jeweler because we were referred by a family member and they did an amazing job on my E-ring. So we pick out the rings and he says they will be ready in 3 weeks. Well lo and behold, we call and call and call and they were not ready until May 15. So we go pick them up and not only is FH's ring totally the WRONG ring, but NEITHER ring is engraved. So we complained and the guy's like, 'oh don't worry, I'll fix it and you can come back.' Meanwhile, this place is on eastern LI 2 hours from where we live in Queens, so I went nuts to the point where the guy finally agreed to drop the rings off at our house.

So today he calls and says, 'listen, the rings are ready but what you wanted engraved doesn't fit on the bride's ring, so I engraved the saying you wanted on the groom's ring only, and on the bride's ring, I just put the date.' HUH? They went ahead and just ENGRAVED our rings with whatever they wanted without even ASKING us? Well I went psycho on them. His solution? 'oh ok well then the engraving is on us.'

WHO CARES, the whole point of the engraving is now lost and I don't want ANYTHING engraved anymore! So I'm making him remove all engraving. This is a nightmare, the wedding is 2 weeks away and I don't even know if I'll have my rings or if they CAN remove engraving.

WHAT ABSOLUTE NERVE! Oh - and he's making us pick up the rings ourselves!

Wow, that really sucks! You don't need this extra aggravation. I hope everything works out ok.

I know it's short notice but is there any way you can just go somewhere else to get them? Or get the engraving bufffed out and have it re-engraved after the wedding. I wouldn't pay full price after all this.

I am so sorry! You should see if he will offer you another discount for the inconvenience. Do you have a receipt showing the engraving included because then you have something to hold against him.

Have them buff it out and go elsewhere for the engraving.

We just told them to remove the engraving, and we'll get them engraved after the ceremony somewhere else. I would love to just go somewhere else at this point and start over, but we already paid a deposit and also, we really do love the rings we picked! The place I went was out in Oakdale - Elegant Jewelers.

So do you think the buffing out will be noticeable or change the sizing of the rings?
