Has anyone thought about doing this...

I just went to Staples to find envelopes for a party my FMIL is throwing for my FFIL and FSIL... and I saw those invitation kits... 50 for $25.... They seem pretty nice. I could do invitations for like $250.... and save so much $$... I dont know if I am, but what do you think?

(I'd rather not have to do the work )

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

I'm the type of person that would rather pay to have the job done right by professionals. If it were for a b-day party or even a grad party, I would go for it.. not for a wedding though. Also, I would hate to add extra work to my schedule. JMO

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

I thought about doing that because I was all for saving money. Then I saw the invitations in a book that I just had to have so I ended up getting those and my 'crafty' idea went out the window.

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

Financially it's great, but I wouldn't want the added stress.

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

We thought about it but then our friend, who works for a publishing company, told us she could get us 50% off of our invitations. So, for the same price as the DIY ones, we won't have to do it ourselves. Thank goodness.

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

well, we had our invitations made and they were only about $376, so it's not that much more money to have them done. and it's a whole lot less work for you!

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

to me it isn't about the stress, more about not being artistic enough to make the invitations that I really love... JMO

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

We were totally going to do that! That's what we did for our engagment party. But we found a webpage that was just a little more expensive for invites, so we are doing that instead. The less for us to do, the better.

Don't forget to add in the cost of toner for the printer. It might just be worth it to have it donw professionally

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

THought of it but decided to get invites. Mine cost about the $250 anyway and I like them so much better. You really have to have a good quality printer to print them yourself if you want them to look half-way decent.

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

I made my own invites. I bought enough paper for 50 invites, STDs, reception cards, response cards, favor tags, and thank you cards for $50 and that included shipping! And I had a lot of fun making them too!

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

Actually I just printed my programs yesterday using the kit. It was very easy and they turned out nice. I would recommend them.

Re: Has anyone thought about doing this...

if done correctly and with the right resouces (printer, programs such as Microsoft Publisher), invites can be a DIY....

It is very simple and you can get creative. Take a invite you like and try to make somthing simliar to it. Test printing it out a few times...then production.

I did E-Party invites and people were blown away.
