Need Advice re: Reception Venue

Has anyone been to a wedding reception at the Maine Maid Inn? We are looking for less catering hall/more of a restaurant atmosphere and like the historic look, but I don't know anyone who's had an event there. Please help!

Re: Need Advice re: Reception Venue

I went to a small intimate wedding there a few years ago, in one of the upstairs rooms. I remember really loving the food, and the staff was great. Hope that helps!

Re: Need Advice re: Reception Venue

Thanks for the replies!

Mainly, I was concerned about the food (I know the Lessing family took over within the last few years and updated what had supposedly been an uninspired menu). But I was also curious how a rustic-looking restaurant would work out for a party of about 160 - they are able to accommodate up to 200, but the party would take place in the garden and in 2 adjacent rooms separated by a wall of open French doors and windows, rather than 1 large, like a banquet hall, so I'm trying to envision the space with so many people. My FH and I are into a more intimate atmosphere and we like the look of the place, but unlike some of the other catering places we looked at, I haven't been finding a lot of chat about it in regards to wedding receptions on this web site or anywhere else on the internet. Also, the banquet manager there is more laid-back and wasn't really "selling" the place to us, so I started to assume the worst and wonder if the place was not appropriate for wedding recep of our size. But it seems that they are capable of a lovely affair and we really do think the place is charming.

Re: Need Advice re: Reception Venue

My Father used to be the chef there years ago so I grew up around it. It used to be really good, then it went really down hill & now with the new owners the food is amazing. I went to a bridal shower there almost a year ago & it was really good. I ate dinner there about two months ago & the food was excellent. We also booked my friends brial shower there next Saturday. My parents actually wanted me to have my wedding there but I have been there so many times, I wanted to something special.

If you like the historic look, try the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. It is really nice, I liked it but my FH doesn't like that style.
