Low Blood Pressure
I know I've always had low blood pressure (usually 90/60) but today I go to donate blood at my job's blood drive and they turn me away because it's really low (90/46). I even had a cookie and some coffee right before I went to donate.Anyone know of anything that I could be doing that's making it so low?

I think so.... I feel like I have this non-stop conveyor belt running from the fridge to my mouth.

I second this.. My blood pressure has always been extremely low also, and I'm telling ya I eat salty food all the time! Its surprising in my case only because my mom has had HIGH blood pressure since she was 25 years old!
That said, my doctors always told me that there was no cause for concern, and that its 'just the way I am' And seeing what my mom has gone thru over the years, it is far worse to have HIGH BP .. it can cause all sorts of health problems, and needs to be controlled with medication in most cases.

Re: Low Blood Pressure
90/46 doesnt alarm me for a young woman in otherwise good health. This is probably normal for you, or maybe you are slightly dehydrated. You would have to check your b/p once and a while to get a baseline of what is normal for you, but this sounds about right. Next time you are in CVS or something, have the machine take your blood pressure. Remember also that b/p can vary greatly depending on what the situation is with your health and environment. If you just sat on the LIE for 2 hours in traffic before a dr's appt and then they take your b/p and tell you that its high, well I wouldnt be rushing out to start medication based on that. When you go to donate blood they must follow parameters, and yours fell below what they will accept. I was turned away so many times because my hemoglobin was too low and I was slightly anemic, but nothing too bad. Dont stress yourself out over it!

Re: Low Blood Pressure
Mine is about what yours is...I ask the Dr's ALL the time and their responses are always ' better low then high' and ' have some salt in your diet'....I have had blood tests and nothing shower irregular so I guess it's just a thing I have...Welcome New Vendors
