Kitchen set Question
Danielle and I purchased a Wood Kitchen table and four chairs from Seamans. Danielle wanted to buy 2 more chairs but the salesman said they were going to be $125 each. We didnt want to spend $125 each per chair, so we said no thanks. A few days after we bought all of our furniture, we spend $3700 on the kitchen set, living room set, and queen size mattress set, Danielle's parents decided they wanted to buy a queen size mattress set. So we took them to Seamans to deal with the same guy we dealt with, Frank Cusa. Had to plug his name, he was really nice. He works in the Carle Place Store. Anyway, We said...what about the two extra chairs, what is the best you can do on them??
He said he would give them to us for $140 plus tax, and $12.50 each chair for the Guardian Protection package. We got it on all of our furniture. It is really worth it. For 5 years we are protected from stains, rips, tears, and other things. All we do is call them, and they will come to fix it and if it cannot be fixed, they will replace the piece of furniture.
I still do not think this is a great deal. Especially with all the business we gave them. Danielle's parents mattress was $1300 with delivery and tax.
Do you think he should give us a better deal? If so, how do I go about getting that better deal? Danielle really wants the chairs. I think we would be better off buying folding chairs, in case we have more people over. The two extra chairs will come in use if there is two more people at our house, but what if there is four extra people. Then we are going to have to use folding chairs, right?

Re: Kitchen set Question
I think you got a good deal. I have no idea though if he gave you his best deal though.
As for the chairs - do you have a formal dining room? we don't so I only have 4 chairs for my set. IMO I don't like things too crowded and it would have been with the extra chairs. When we do have people over we use folding chairs..

Re: Kitchen set Question
I think $5,000 for a DR, LR, and BR is a great deal all.
All furniture is expensive - most people do not replace it frequently so that's how the furniture stores/companies make money.
IMO, if you have room for them, it is better to get the extra chairs now that match your table. In a couple of years if you decide to get extra chairs, you will not be able to find a matching set and you will pay more then $140 per chair that does not match your dining set. This is exactly what happened to my mother.

Re: Kitchen set Question
We didnt pay $5,000. We paid $3700....It was just a shock to spend that much money all at once...Thankgod we got 18 months to pay it off interest free. I know we got an excellent deal on all of our furniture. The table is going to be used as a kitchen table. We really do not have the room for the extra chairs. Danielle wants to have them though. She says we can push the tables up against the wall and leave the chairs on the side that is against the wall.
Danielle was talking about using thistable as our dining room table in the future, and I am sure by the time we buy a house we are going to want to buy a different dining room table.
Thats the table with the chairs. The table extends to 30"

Re: Kitchen set Question
I was including the mattress set $3700 + 1300 = 5,000
It's nice set.
We did the same thing with seamens -- no interest for a year thing.

Hey, can I print that out and hand it to my customers?
You are a walking Guardsman advertisement! LMAO!!!!
Anyway Scott, he can only really give you the what the sale is. Salespeople do not have the authority to take more off the price. They are really strict about margins. I can't tell you how many customers say, but I bought all my furniture here, can't you give me a better price or knock off delivery? No can do! You feel bad about it ,but its not worth losing your job.
Your best bet is to ask him to call you when the chairs are on sale. Was he giving them to you for $140 each? Or for both of them?

Re: Kitchen set Question
The price was for both chairs, then you gotta add the $12.50 protection per chair and tax. It is still going to be around $200.

Re: Kitchen set Question
Well, those chairs are normally $119.99 plus Guardsman and then tax. So, you're getting them for $70 a piece, if you really want them you should grab them!! I don't think it will get better than that.
I don't even know how he is giving you that price!!
Good luck!

For both chairs!! Nice folding chairs (That are almost comfortable start at $30 at BB&B). What about skipping the protection thing and getting a can of scotch guard at the supermarket.
