kona village resort - hawaii
Hi Ladies
I am starting to research the honeymoon - probably Hawaii. I found this resort and was wondering if anyone stayed there and how they liked it. Also - If you honeymooned in Hawaii, can you tell me where you stayed, on which island? Thanks Christine

Re: kona village resort - hawaii
I heard great things about Kona Village - but I hear no AC and very, very secluded (may be hard to do thingson the island - but not 100% sure about this). We looked into this resort when planning our trip. A co-worker's of DH went and loved it. but we didn't go to the big Island.
For me: Maui: Grand Wailea (great - I recommend! Kauai: Hyatt (wonderful! totally recommend)

Re: kona village resort - hawaii
Kona Village is RIGHT next door to the Four Seasons. We passed it everytime we went to our hotel, and you can see the Village right from the Four Season's beach, so it's not that secluded.
We heard nothing but good things about it though. We asked a few people too... there are no clocks, phones, AC, or TV's in the rooms. It is the "ultimate escape" if that is what you are looking for. (DH would freak with no AC so we opted to go to the Four Seasons)
on Maui- Renaissance Wailea on Kauai- Princeville on Big Island- Four Seasons
I loved all 3!!!!! ESPECIALLY the Four Seasons!

Maui: Hyatt Regency on Kaanapali Beach - loved it
Kauai: Hyatt Regency - loved it
Oahu: we stayed at a lower budget hotel - the Outrigger by the Reef - because we were there just one night. But there's a Sheraton on the beach (there's more than one, the one right on Waikiki beach is georgeous) that you might want to research.

Cheryl was Kona Village the condos that you pass by when you turn off the main road to get to the Princeville? We weren't sure if they were private homes or not.
We drove to Princeville and I wish we went inside, but I can't remember why we didn't.
We watched the sun set there, though and it was a georgeous view. Then we drove down past the taro fields and to the bay.

Re: kona village resort - hawaii
We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Kauai. We absolutely loved this hotel. I was sad to leave. In Maui we stayed at the Four Season. You can't go wrong with the 4S but honestly I liked the Hyatt in Kauai better as far as ambiance. I heard the Hyatt in Maui is not as beautiful as the one in Kauai but I can not say for I never saw it. The Grand Wailea is beautiful too. Very large. My only (-) observation on that one was that there were a lot of kids when we passed through. I have no objection for kids but on my HM it wasn't what we were looking for.

Re: kona village resort - hawaii
We stayed there on our honeymoon and I still dream about it! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. It is, by far, the most beautiful and serene place I've yet to be in my entire life. The only thing I want to make you aware of is that Kona is VERY black -- There is just lava everywhere ... unlike the other islands which are filled with vibrant colors -- you won't see much other than black on the Big Island. We were also able to walk up an active volcano while there -- amazing! But Kona is amazing! It's all inclusive, including snorkels and boats! You will LOVE it!!!!!! (No locks on the doors, just open, wonderful awesomeness.)
We also stayed at the Hyatts in Kauii and Maui (which was totally different) and the Halekulani in Oahu which I highly recommend.
HAve fun! FM for more details/pix.

(We didn't go to Hawaii for our HM, but I figured that was irrelevant.)
