So, the adding of x-tra people on the response cards have started

The first one was my brother. He is divorced and I invited him w/o a guest b/c I'm almost 95% positive he is not in any type of relationship. I am already adding my 9 y/o niece and 7 y/o nephew with him. So, he calls me, leaves a message saying: 'I am coming to your wedding with the kids and a guest.' Its not like he's asking if its ok if he can bring a guest as well, but that he is bringing a guest. So, of course I am calling everyone but him to find out who this mystery guest is. No one knows. Oh well, what am I going to do, he's my brother.
Then another friend I invited puts down she is bringing her daughter who is less than a year old!
What's next!?

well if it is your brother... that is a different story.. i dont know your situation but if my brother wanted to bring a date i wouldnt care (i have a brother w/o a girlfriend) that wouldnt bother me....
his kids.... are you not close or are you having no kids?

and as for less than a year old.... that is just plain INCONSIDERATE and rude!!!!!!!!!!! she would get a phone call
unless she is just bringing her baby to the ceremony

Re: So, the adding of x-tra people on the response cards have started

Well, if there was anyone over the age of 18 at my wedding - we added '& Guest' to the envelope.

Whether or not - they had a 'girlfriend or boyfriend' was not my business and totally their choice if they wanted to bring them....i added '& Guest' out of respect and gave them that choice.

I would of been offended if I wasn't married and the person 'JUST' invited me to the wedding.....usually people tend to hate going to wedding alone and bring a friend or relative....

do u konw what i mean?

im fortunate that i didnt have any add-ons to the response cards. i just had people complain about not being invited with guest (we only did people in relationships). we were then extended the guest invitation to these people who all suddenly said they had nobody to bring.

Re: So, the adding of x-tra people on the response cards have started

I dont mind that he brings a guest. What kind of irked me was that he didnt ask me, he told me. As for my niece and nephew, well, I am inviting all of them; there are only about 8, but I drew the line there b/c most of my cousins and friends have very young kids and I cannot have an insane amount of children running around at my reception.
As for my friend, I was hoping she wouldnt bring the baby, but she really has no one else to leave her with, so what can I do. They will definitely be sitting all the way in the back near the door and away from the DJ.

yup, i agree...

i am even going so far and letting my sister bring a friend (in addition to her own date) so they all will have fun together!

i have been to weddings where i was invited alone because i wasn't dating anyone at the time, and although i respect other people's wishes i personally want to make things even across the board...
