Pillar Candle Centerpiece Question?

Is there anyone who has used pillar candles as their centerpieces and if so did it work out well? I am just curious to see if it was dangerous not to have a candle covered or anything. We aren't having any kids so that is not a problem but still people can be clumsy and stuff. We are thinking of approximately 4 or 5 pillars of various sizes on each table on top of glass with fake rose pedals in between. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I am thinking about doing a pillar candle centerpiece for half my tables... but I am putting them in some sort of hurricane vase.
