Elegant Restaurant/Small Catering Hall reco

Can anyone recommend an elegant restaurant or catering hall for an upcoming engagement dinner on long island? i have contacted the carltun but thought they were a bit pricey for a dinner. but i'm looking for a similar feel. Thanks!

Not sure what the Carltun looks like, BUT I highly recommend The Gatsby in Islip. It is gorgeous and the food is fantastic. You should check them out.

I had a engagement luncheon cocktail hour, and 4 course meal (we had the whole restaurant to ourselves for about 40 people) at Stressa - in Manhasset on Northern Blvd. It was very nice - zagat's gives it high ratings.

I would also check out - Panama hatties, la Couquille, Cool Fish, West End Cafe,

thanks for the suggestions! as for narrowing down my search area- most of my family is from brooklyn so i probably wouldn't want to go further than say manhasset.
