Thoughts on people who say...(with Poll)

'Oh, I'm going to send you a gift!'

My own experience with hearing those words: that gift never comes.

I just think it's weird because I NEVER tell anyone that I'm going to send a gift. I just do it.

What's the etiquette rule on that?

those words have no meaning. to me, its kind of like saying 'see you soon', to somebody you have absoluelty no intention of ever seeing. if you want to send a gift, don't say you are going to, just do it.

It's a tacky thing to say, therefore it is a tacky person saying it and tacky people don't usually send gifts so that explains it.

Just like when I used to wait tables, every single time a table said 'don't worry we're big tippers,' that was the kiss of death, they were always cheap asse$.
