live on LI/work in the city - second jobs?

Hi all,

I'm seriously considering getting a second job right now, but the trouble is - I don't get out of my job till 5:45 and I don't have a car! I want to do something to try and supplement our income since things are a bit tight right now - but I'm not sure how I can do it. Is anyone else in my situation? I work from 9 - 5:45 during the summer and by the time I get back to LI, it's after 7:30. I was even thinking of getting something part-time here in the city, but I'd only be able to work a couple hours a day after work and I wouldn't even know where to start looking for something offering that kind of schedule. I'm just so frustrated bc I feel like I'm never going to pay off my cc debt AND wedding expenses on top of that with just my current salary..... :( Any suggestions or helpful ideas would be greatly welcomed!! why don't you see if you can work Saturday mornings or something? I used to work at a doctor's office on Monday and Thursday nights, then Saturday mornings.

Or get a retail job on Saturdays or something,.

I waitress Sunday nights, from 4 or 5 till 9. I usually make $100 or more.

I second the waitressing, my cousin did that one day a week. He made pretty good money.

i bartended for years to help pay my bills and eventually help pay for the wedding. I used to make more money than teaching! You can do a Fri night or Sat... I'm out of the business now b/c it wore me down but I miss the money...

waitressing! i plan on doing it when i have a full time job as well, just to pay off my loan and pay for what we need. and you can do it anywhere.

If you had good scores on your SAT, GRE, etc you can tutor or teach for Kaplan in the evenings...

Thank you all for the awesome feedback - it's definitely food for thought!! I'm going to check out a few places near my office for waitressing, maybe I can swing a few hours after work or something like that. Thanks again for all of your help!
