I need opinions....(vent, sorry)

My FI family has done nothing but give me trouble with this wedding. Everything they have promised or offered they take back. I think since we are paying for most of the wedding (my mom pd for the ch) then we should tell them that they can have family there but we have to cut their friends. There were only about 10-15 anyway since its a small wedding. My mom says I should be better than that and invite them. My FI agrees with me, but I dont want to start WW III. What do you think?

How many people are you inviting total? Is 10 or 15 people a large % of that? Do you think they'd all come?

If you are having 200, then 10 may not be much more and you can hope they cover their plate.

If you are only inviting 100 and keeping it small, then 10 or 15 is a large # to add...

I would limit it to friends your FH knows not because of money issuse, just because there's no need for people that don't know you to be there.

I clicked the wrong thing.. i would NOT invite their friends, why can't they help?? if they already said they would. i would be mad too..

I didnt vote - I think you should get FIL to pay for their guests.

I don't think there is anything wrong with asking for the head price for guests that they want to invite.

My DH and I had a similar situation. His parents gave us a list and there were people that my DH had never even met and alot more family then DH had expected. Let me just say that I adore his parents, but they felt that our wedding was going to be " extravagant" . DH and I agreed that we did not want people there that had never met us. We sat down with his parents and talked it out. In the end we cut all of the people that we did not know and his parents kicked in some money for the rehersal dinner and the reception.

i say nix the friends tell the fh parents you just cant afford to have them there cause you are paying for all this yourself - maybe they will get the hint and chip in or else just cut them - ( the friends that is ) i wouldnt worry about making everyone happy cause it just wont happen - why have a bunch of people neither of you know at your wedding - note keyword there is your not your family's
