Re: Just finished petal cones -- pics!
Those look really great!I got frustrated working with the names also, so I bought some medium circular doilies. I made the cone but I think it's too plain, so I might try your idea with the ribbon.

Re: Just finished petal cones -- pics!
Thanks everybody!!! You made me feel a lot better for all the time I put into those
Since I went crazy trying to find instructions on how to do these, I will gladly give you all the tips I have.
I bought the textured paper from Ragshop (craft store in Flushing) but I'm sure that Michael's has a large selection. I love the look of the doilies but as some girls mentioned, they seemed too thin to hold. This paper was in the scrapbooking section and is very thick and heavy.
I made sure to get paper that 12x12 so that it can be cut into 4 squares (apparently squares are needed to make the cones). After cutting into squares, I trimmed the edges with those fancy crafting scissors.
I then made the cones shape and stapled it closed.
I cut the ribbon that I had (you can pick any color or # of strings -- I used four strings for the pink ones and six strings for the ivory ones) and hot glued them to the cone (thereby covering the staple).
I got those fake rose flowers from an ebay vendor for VERY cheap -- I think it was $5.00 for a bag of 72. I then ran the small bells through the wire of the flower and looped it so that the bell wouldn't come off. I cut off the extra wire and tucked the rest under the flower.
I then hot-glued the flower on top of the ribbons.
Its a lot easier than it sounds but it helps if you have someone cut the squares and ribbons for you.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.
