How many days are you taking off BEFORE the wedding?
I have to request my time off now for the wedding, and don't know how much to ask for before the wedding. I don't think there will be too much left to do, so I was thinking just a day before (the Friday). What is everyone else doing?

MY wedding is at 3pm on Friday. I am leaving work at 1pom that Thursday.
I don't want to take too much time off before since I will be taking 2 whole weeks after and won't have any time left.

My wedding was on a Sunday. I had originally asked for just Friday off. However, I was too overwhelmed with everything and had to end up asking my bosses for Thursday off also. If you can take 2 days prior to the wedding off. You don't feel it now but you will be under so much pressure the week before your wedding that you WILL need to extra time.

My wedding is on a Saturday....I'm taking off the Friday and a half a day Thursday because I have relatives coming in then.

I am taking the Friday off before my Sunday wedding ... I wish I could've taken Thurs and Friday, but I just don't have anymore vacation time left 
Of course FH is working that Friday!!

My wedding is Saturday. Currently I am planning to go in Mon & half a day on Tues - then off for almost 3 weeks!! Fiance is taking a half day on Thurs (our RD is Thurs night) and then Friday off for golfing with the guys.

I took off the Friday the week before so I had a three day weekend.
Then the week of (my wedding was Sat and RD was Thurs night with a bridesmaid's tea and manicures on Friday) I took off Thurs and Fri.

I took off a week check out my to do list and see what you think:
It was non-stop and even though my mom and my sister were helping me I was still soo busy. My mom wrapped all my wine bottles, my sister did what she could too. I had to drop off checks at Oheka, buy honeymoon clothes, pick up my dress, buy tulle at Micheals to wrap the bottles, pay the florist on Wed, get frames (my mom did this) for the table names,
Weekend:
Go out east to get TV and see Ron’s boat and have lunch- Sunday
Friday- went out with Tracy and Kevin and hung out w. their friends.
Monday
Go home and pick up the package from Stef with all my programs.
Go to Islip to get Evan’s clothes and things
Go to Fedex place in Garden City and pick up package from calligrapher around 6pm
Meet Evan at Roosevelt Field to look for honeymoon clothes. Wind up getting separated in Macy’s. Returned some gifts.
Tuesday
Go to 3 different banks to switch money all around to pay for things.
See John in Huntington, drop off money takes a few hours b/c of the hassle with the credit card company
Go to Ikea and get the TV stand for the TV in our apartment, Evan puts it together while I fold fortune tellers
Wed.
Got stuck in traffic on the way from Great Neck
9am got hair colored
Pick quick to get 100 lb Glossy paper
went to Joyce Leslie after shopping at Pick Quick
ate lunch at Jenny’s house, picked up fans
went to micheals to get tulle and frames
stopped at Dairy Barn first and got cigarettes
Went to Bloomingdales and got Evan’s present
almost got in car accident
went to facial 5pm Facial
went home
Oheka check to be dropped off (jenny did)
Print out all the favor tags for the bells
Go tanning,
Target about getting stuff for the next day party, white socks, honeymoon stuff and galvanized bucket
Tied ribbon around programs
Thursday
Tied ribbon around programs when I woke up
12:30 train to NYC
stopped in victoria’s secret and sephora and bought body glitter
2pm waxing appt at completely bare in the city
had lunch with Danielle at pizza hut
caught the train, Chris the photographer calls me to go over a few things
talk to micheal about music and montage when got back from train Evan was still sleeping
fold rest of fortune tellers
8 pm Dinner with Kevin and Tracy
they came over after and had a few drinks
Fri
Picked up dress
Went to Abercrombie and bought honeymoon clothes
2pm wax appt with Soto Salon
Got my belly button re-pierced
Took Karen fake tanning
Went to 246 Larkfield Rd to pick up cigars for groomsmen presents
Mom found frames & we put those table names in
Did seating with mom and stayed up late
Mom found my checkbook so I could write out vendor checks
Tied ribbon around programs
Saturday
11am rehearsal
12-3 luncheon
5 limo at house
finish packing
got nails done,
stopped at mall and ring cleaned
Tied ribbon around programs until sissors broke
*and thats just what I can remember!

Thanks! What last minute things did you end up having to do?
I had to finish up the programs, get the baskets ready for the programs/rice, go try on my dress on Wednesday and pick it up the Thursday, get BP gifts together, go to the reception hall to drop everything off, pack for HM. Also, we had our Rehearsal dinner on Friday so I only had about 1/2 on Friday to do things. On Saturday, I pretty much relaxed... I went with my mom, grandma, MOH and one BM to get nails/toes done, then went out to lunch with my MOH and BM. I was in bed on Saturday by 8pm.

Holy crap Bethsiar - your post made me dizzy!!!!! I cant believe you did that much running around!!! YIKES - this is what I have to look forwrd to??? 
I am getting married on a Friday night. I will probably leave work early Wednesday of that week. Although I dont know how I am going to work the last couple of weeks - I can barely concentrate now and I have 10 months to go!

I took off Wednesday-Friday before my Saturday wedding. And mostly because I was picking my mom up at LGA on Wed.
Actually, Wed & Thu were kinda just nice relaxing days - a few things to do here & there but I think I also just needed to NOT be at work.

If you plan on having everything prepared and taken care of waaaaay before the week of your wedding, I would say 1-2days off prewedding, tops.
I'm taking the Thurs & Fri before our Saturday wedding. Those days will be dedicated to last minutes things, and personal care.

I am taking off 2 days beofre and day after since we arent leaving until the following friday on our honeymoon, my company gives you 3 days off for a wedding whicxh is nice so I dont have to use my vacation days,

I took off 6 days from work. But I had a lot of last minute things to take care of -- assembling programs, favor boxes and donation scrolls.
And I also had finals at school, so it was crazy.
I'm glad I had that week to focus on everything other than work.

getting married on a saturday.
For those of you that did programs last minute, is there a reason? are there details that can't be done till the end? Or did you just not have time to do them sooner?
ETA: I am leaving straight from the hotel the morning after my wedding for the HM, so I need to time to launder & pack at home in Westchester, before going to LI.

If you plan on having everything prepared and taken care of waaaaay before the week of your wedding, I would say 1-2days off prewedding, tops.
You can plan as much as you want, but there are so many things you can't account for or possibly do beforehand.
Things like getting the placecards from the calligrapher and the programs etc are something the brides don't really have control over. Its whenever you will get them. My moms dress had problems, my MOH got a waterstain on her dress and even those these aren't YOUR problems, they distract you.
Also I found that once my shower was over, the time just flew. Even if I had everything done, the personal things like getting nails done, hair colored, waxing etc all takes a whole lot of time up.
Just be prepared! You could do 2 days off, one day would really be stretching it and you might kill someone LOL
ETA Last week Eroxgirl and I were discussing how many times we had to redo our tables in the days leading up to the wedding-thats also time consuming and distracting

Nothing is set in stone yet; but I think I will be taking the whole week prior to my wedding off from work. I know that if I am at work that week I will be a complete incompetent mess.
