True, funny and embarassing wedding story.. Hope you enjoy.

Back in the wee year of 1999 in the 29th year of my life.. 30,463 days into my existence... (huh...???)...

I was working a Saturday.

After work I went into the city from the job.
I was around 5th Avenue and 51st Street.

I thought it might be a great time to visit St. Patrick's Cathedral and say a prayer.

So.. I walk into Church. Now if you can get past the tourists rumbling through the Church, there's a certain ambience that I just love.

I walked to the front where the ambience grew stronger for me. I lit some candles and took a seat in the midst of a group of people.

They were quiet and subdued.

I thought about many things.. life, God, family. I had just finished a shift I worked on a Saturday at the job. It was a quiet day there. I went to work dressed very casually, wearing a football NY Giants jersey #98.

At this point a priest walks out with two altar boys, and the thought of particpiating in a Mass made me very happy since it had been a long time since I had gone to Church.

He stands at the altar and at this time is joined by a well-dressed gentlman in a Navy uniform. I thought it was great that a guy was serving both God and country. (I was just in a very good mood that day.. LOL)

All of a sudden, everyone stands up. I hustle to my feet. Music starts playing. Then they all turn around. I say to myslef.. 'Wow, Church has changed since I last went. We never did this before.' I think about how much I love to see the Chruch try different things.

I turn around to see..

A wedding party walking up the aisle.

I'm totally in disbelief of what's going on. I turn and look and there are men wearing tuxedo's and Navy uniforms all around me. Women are in lovely top-notch dresses.

At this point, I don't know what to do.

I freeze and stay put.

Well.. to make this long story end.. I stayed until they exchanged their vows and then made a quick exit during the applause ginve by their family and friends. (I tried to do the polite thing.)

BUt somewhere in this world.. there is a videotape.. of a lovely bride walking up the aisle to meet her husband in the wonderful state of matrimony. They are surrounded by their family and friends, well dressed and proper. And if you look right in the middle of a certain shot when the bride is walking up to the altar, there's a number 98 with a look of total shock on his face. You can't miss him.

That's me.

I hope they have a happy marriage.
Though they probably do wonder when they watch their weddiing video... 'Who the hell is number 98?' And the response comes.. 'Must be from your side of the family.'

i did.. it was a total yankee thing to do. Ever year the Commish secrelt WANTS he Yanks in the WS.. it means $$$ because you get Yankee fans rooting for their team.. and then the rest of America who's hoping that the other NL team whips their butt.
