One piece of advice for your wedding day

Make sure that you give your photographer a list of shots that you want. Ididnt and I missed out on some special pics that I wanted. I didnt tell anyone there where ones that I wanted so its my own fault. I got caught up in the day and forgot all about them.

Re: One piece of advice for your wedding day

the same thing happened to me....and looking back, there wasn't even time...people were scattered all over, we were getting dragged here and there....so if there are pics you HAVE to have, I suggest you do those first

Re: One piece of advice for your wedding day

DITTO- My grandmother is so upset that there are no family pics from our side, like one of her and her sisters. I gave the photographer a list, but if there are pics you WANT, MAKE SURE TO TAKE THEM FIRST, or to let someone else know that they MUST be taken. There's SO much going on that day, things get forgotten.

Re: One piece of advice for your wedding day

I second that. I missed so many pics I wanted. And seriously, make the list NOW, months before your wedding because seriously with all the stuff going on as you get closer, that is one of the last things you'll think of. I had planned to make a list but the closer we got the more there was to do and I just forgot!!

Re: One piece of advice for your wedding day

quick question for you...

what shots did you want that you did not get?

i would think that the 'important ones' (i.e. vows, first dance, cake cutting, etc.) would be no brainers... i don't want to overwhelm my photographer with stupid things but at the same time i want to make sure we are on the same page. what were your 'givens'? what did you think you were going to get that you didn't?

this info would really help as well - thanks!

Re: One piece of advice for your wedding day

My photographer got all the given ones, first dance, cake cutting, vows, first kiss etc. But there were certain people I wanted pics with but in the heat of the day forgot. I wanted pics with my aunts, my stepbrothers, my stepgrandfather, I wanted shots of the bridal party in church on the alter. I also wanted some alone pics of just DH and there wasn't one!!(which really ticked me off!!) I wanted a pic with my co workers and one with our close friends that were not in the bridal party. And I wanted a picture with my niece who was at the church and didn't come to the reception. Luckily, with the table cameras I got pics with most of these people, except my niece, which really bothered me!!

Re: One piece of advice for your wedding day

If you have an experienced wedding photographer (I learned this from my amazing photog who captured the joy of my day magically in his pix) they will know to take pictures of the kiss and the ring exchange and the cake. Giving them endless lists of this is not helpful. What they DO need is lists of specific family and friend pictures -- they do not know who these people are and thus need to be told this one or that one is important to capture. This is also an advantage of taking pics before the ceremony -- we only had the required people present and it cut down on interruptions.
