What do you think about this? Opinions really wanted!

For favors we are giving each couple a freshly made pie (pecan pie, strawberry rhubarb, or triple berry pie).

What do you think about also giving out personalized shot glasses filled with Jordan almonds? Do you think it is tacky because it is a black tie event? Or is it fun? What do you think about making the shot glasses the favor for the post-wedding party?

I don't think that is tacky!!! But I guess if your wedding is Really formal you might want to save them for the after party.

i agree i think that if your having an after party then i would save the shot glasses for that event. if you feel that you need to give another favor at the wedding what about a cake knife or pie server? they have some really nice ones with china handles and everyone always used them my sister had them for her wedding years ago and everyone still uses them

Great idea, will your CH let you bring food in (cake, pies, etc)? If so go for it.....the shot glasses sound good for bachelor/bachelorette favors though but good luck anyway.

eh...i wouldn't...Just because i like a nice flow of things and pies and shot glasses don't really mesh for me

I wouldnt give out the shot glasses at the reception - i think they are a little too informal. I think they would be better for the after party.

not for during the reception, the two dont tie together at all...maybe for before or after parties...

Actually we are also giving out personalized shot glass favors at our wedding! (here's the website if you are interested:shot glasses). However, instead of Jordan almonds, we are filling them with almond M&Ms, because I personally think they taste better. We knew that you could special order M&Ms and we contacted the M&M people on their website to see if the could make bags of white almond M&Ms, but unfortunately they only make the plain ones special order. Therefore, my fiance & I actually went and bought several bags of the promotional black & white M&Ms when the came out this year so we could fill them with white candy. If you like that idea, you could try to see if they still sell the black & white almond M&Ms, but I haven't seen them around.

Shot glasses are a little...I don't know, college Spring Break to me. Especially if you are having a black tie affair. No offense. I think the pie idea is awesome, and plenty a favor if packaged attractively. BTW, where did you get them? My tummy is rumbly just thinking about it!

Why shot glasses? Honestly, I am bored and thought it would be fun to order something. Also, it is a way to get the jordan almonds in. But you are completely right, I do think it is kind of spring break.

Why shot glasses? Because it's fun and unique. Black tie or not, a wedding is a personal thing and there are no rules as to what you can give for favors. It all depends on the personalities of the bride and groom. Many mature adults entertain at home and they can use them. It makes an excellent conversation piece, or they can just display it in a china cabinet or something. It's a keepsake, that's all it is.
