Are we Doing too much (looking for a house & planning wedding) - vent -

My parents gave me some grief about doing too many things at once... that we are all over the place. I think we are handling stuff fine - actually I think we are doing really good, Yes - some decisions take longer than others because I like to see all the options before making a choice. So once we plan one thing my family points out something that we didn't do, something my we did wrong, or something we should have done differently. I wouldn't mind, but they got married and bought houses 30 years ago... it was a bit different. I don't want to yell or tune them out, because I they mean well - It's starting to drive me nuts

I'm in the same boat with you. It is too much at one time; but we have to get it done. So far my mother has been supportive and FILs are going thru their own dramas right now to even be concerned.

I think they just mean well!! I am DYING to start house hunting and FH caught me looking online the other day and flipped out. He said take one thing at a time .. hes is just afraid I will be overwhelmed .. and so will he. We decided to put off on the house hunting until we get back from our HM.
eta. It also give me something to look forward to b/c I know I will be sad when all the wedding planning and fussing is over !

we are doing both, and i feel like we are doing ok. it is a lot, but you have to make priorities. concentrate on a few things at a time in the process and you should be ok. the house to me was far more frustrating than wedding planning. lots of luck..your wedding is exactly one year after mine. have fun and enjoy the time.

my priest actually gave me this advice. 'it is ok to tell little white lies when your relatives give advice. Just say ok, that's a good idea we'll consider it, and do what you want anyway.'

We are doing both - in fact, we just moved into our new home exactly three weeks ago today. ( )
I won't lie, I felt pretty overwhelmed a lot of the time, and I was always tired and irritable. But I don't handle stress well - I'm sure you will be fine! Good luck!!

We are buying our condo and doing the wedding at the same time. I think I am handling it just fine, but everyone else says I am a snappish b*tch...

I know exactly what you mean! Its been crazy doing all this!
I started the planning in January and he started house hunting.
He was in charge of the house and I was in charge of the wedding. It actually worked out good. although we close in November hopefully (crossing fingers) and I'm sure it will get hectic again then.

Either way through all of it my FMIL was driving me crazy. She was pointing out everything and my FFIL was like ohh my god you will have so much work to do. Maybe you should wait they were crazy. As long as your not stressed out too much you'll be fine! Everything will fall into place!
