Taking a test 5 days before your missed period?

My sister was telling me that you can take a test 5 days before your missd period. She said she did it everytime she was pregnant . Did anyone else have this luck? We are going on vacation and I want to take the test before I go so that I know if I can drink or not. My period should come on the 12th, and I was told there are certin tests that can detect pregnancy 5 days before th missed period. If anyone has done this, what tests did you use? thanks in advance!!

I think the EPT you can take up to 5 days before.....maybe the Clear Blue Digital since the word pregnant or not pregnant comes up...but it seems alot of times, it's more apparent AFTER you miss your period...

if you get a neg and you think you might be, I'd drink in moderation to be careful

The early test didn't work for me - I waited until the day after AF was supposed to come and got a positive.

I took a test 3 days before and it came out positive. Good Luck

I used the First Response ept, and it showed up positive 5 days before my AF was due. The line was very faint but it was there. Since 2 tests come in a box I took the second test a couple of days later and the line was really strong.

Cool! Thanks so much you guys for the advice. Im not really expecting to be pregnant, I used the ovulation kit, we did what we were supposed to do. but if it really happened for me, that would just be too easy. Its just our first month really trying. I am going to take a test before I go and one when Im on vacation. I would love to be pregnant, I would be so very very very happy. Thanks again everyone!!!

Personally I would not rely on an early test if it comes out negative. I took tests before AF was due and I did not get my first positive until I was 3 days late.

I took 2 tests that were supposed to be able to tell as soon as 8 days past ovulation....both from dr's....both negative. I found out at my dr's office about 1 week after AF was due

ok..wow..I have alot to think about! Thanks so much!!! Im going to take a test a few days before AF is late and then Ill take one on vacation IF AF is late, but right now Im feeling cranky..so I think Af will be right on time. I always get cranky about a week ahead of time. Thanks so much for all of your advice!

Clear Blue worked for me, I was due on Saturday and took it Monday morning and I had to hold the wand up to the light a certain way, bt I saw a line, it's either there or it ain't!!! Good luck, try it!!!!!
