Ok, so I know my shower is either this week or (vent)

next week and my friend is starting to freak me out. She told me that all the people coming to the shower really must like me because hardly anything is off my registry (because of course I dont peek ) and they all want to get me something special, so they keep calling my mom or sister for ideas. I think that is the sweetest thing but, I am moving into a house (we should close this month) and need so many practical things. Sorry if I sound like a spoiled child, but I purposely didnt register for good china or stemware for this reason and I dont need someone constantly telling me this.

You aren't being spoiled. Sometimes people don't realize that impractical gifts just aren't needed, even though the thought behind them is heartfelt. We all need towels, dishes, etc. - not glamourous but much needed. I'm sure a bunch of people will come around and get you stuff off your registry.

A friend of mine was in the same situation. Her BM's chipped in and bought her a really nice barbeque grill. Would that be an option for you? How about a gift certificate to like ikea or home depot for lighting fixtures and home improvement? Just be honest with her and tell her what you need.

what i don't understand is why people choose to get you other stuff when you purposely registered for things that you need and want...isn't this the best way to shop, when you are selecting from a list of things that people already picked out?

that is one of my pet peeves...my bm's and mom know that i can't stand it if i receive gifts not off the registry...not to sound spoiled, also, but i just don't understand
