Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
We need to make up our minds tonight and I really like the idea of a Sunday wedding and my fiance likes Saturday. What do you think?

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
well personally i went through this myself..we chose the saturday day because i've been to sunday weddings and it just tires me out to go to work the next day..also on a holiday weekend i feel kind of bad having it because i feel like i'm taking away their opportunity to go do something else..so fh and i decided, after numerous talks with liw and friends and family, on saturday at noon..that way we can still party afterwards and not have to worry about our guests getting to work the next day..good luck with whatever you choose..

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
Please keep the opinions coming...this is great! Most people will have off on Monday so as far as people having to travel on Monday if we have the wedding is really moot.He likes Saturday because it sort of gets the wedding done with early in the weekend leaving the rest of the long weekend for other things whereas I like Sunday because people that have to travel (not many) can travel Saturday vs taking off work on Friday to travel in for a Saturday wedding as well as, yes I am compulsive, my 'law of averages'. I know it is SO rediculous but in looking up the weather forcasts for the past 5 years it has rained, during the day, on 4 out of 5 May 28ths whereas it has only rained 3 out of 5 29ths and 2 were before 8am and 1 for an hour between 5 and 6 pm...Odd but heck I can't be the first bride to do this!
With the family it seems to be a gender tie...3 men like Saturday 3 women like Sunday!

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
It also depends on price....is the Saturday a lot more than the Sunday? I really think that either day is fine. Saturday and Sunday will most likely feel the same because almost everyone has off on Monday. I really wanted to get married on the Sunday of a holiday weekend based on price alone. I tried to get the Bourne mansion for July 4th weekend, labor day weekend and Memorial day weekend but they were all booked up on the Sundays...so I ended up going for a Saturday but at a cheaper place. It really depends on which day you would rather. The Church gave me a really hard time because they didn't have any ceremonies or masses until after 5:00 on a Sunday which didn't leave me a lot of time for pic's before the CH. Sorry this is so long. Either day you choose will be great!

this would be my line of thought if electing a holiday weekend.
also, think of all the people who can't just 'take an extra day for the long weekend' because seniority has kicked in and the boss plans to do it that weekend...

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
We went through the same thing. We chose the Sunday before a holiday, because its like a saturday. We didnt want to choose the holiday weekend but Sundays were soooo much cheaper it was ridiculous. I felt really bad about 'ruining' the holiday for everyone. People made me feel better about it by telling me what will people do that day anyway? Have a barbeque? Anyhow, its a tough decision... but it was the only way we could afford our place. GOOD LUCK!

The price difference between a Sat and a Sun is $5 but times that by 125 per person and you have a little savings. I am not tied to that weekend BUT I like the flowers that bloom late May and May is considered 'off season' go 3 days in and I would be paying $10 more per person (yuck).

This may sound snotty, but if you are going to kill a 3-day holiday weekend, better to make it Saturday so people can still plan the two consecutive days. If you do it Sunday, it's right smack in the middle of everything. JMO!

I say go for the Saturday. People can party more and not have to worry about working. Not everyone has off on Memorial Day. I think Saturday is the best day to get married.Kim

I vote for Saturday. For the past three years I have had weddings on Memorial weekend and two were on Memorial day and two were on the saturday before. I think Saturday is just easier, IMO the whole holiday isn't in full swing yet--i dunno, I just like the idea of saturday better, that's just my opinion and experience! but it's your day!

i say do what's best for YOU and your fiance. this is your day and if it means saving money for you having a sunday afternoon wedding, then DO IT. the people who will want to come will... and don't see it as 'ruining' someone's holiday. can you tell i'm having mine on a sunday during a holiday weekend? :) good luck!

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
i think you should choose whatever makes you guys the happiestwe chose the sunday of memorial day because it was right for us - our wedding is small - and we let everyone know of the daye way ahead of time with save the date magnets back at our engagement party
if you are talking about getting marrid memorial day weekend 2005 though - you may have to have the wedding based upon what catering halls have available for that weekend, if anything....
we booked our wedding back in november and atthat time alot of places were already booked for that weekend already - and now its only 10 months away

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
Im going against everyone and saying Sunday. We are getting married Sunday of columbus day weekend. Not only did we save money at the catering hall, which we in turn used it to upgrade. We have a lot of people flying in from florida too, so they dont have to take the day off to fly in on friday. Plus Im having my rehearsal on Friday night with dinner following. At least no one has to wake up early for work on saturday!!

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
My cousin got married on Memorial Day MONDAY one year...I'm getting married on a Sunday and it's not a holiday weekend...The important people have already told me they put in for the day after work to have off...Saturday weddings are awesome, but way expensive.

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
Either way it would be during the day not at night so late nights, etc should not be an issue. Yes we will set up a hospitality suit for that night but I like the idea of this place during the day. I like having the Water/garden view all throughout my wedding reception. It is just a matter of which day now. I am trying to arrange which band/photographer is available what days at this point and go from there. I origionally had 2 out of the 4 recommended bands on hold for Sun but then just got a call from one saying the lead is not going to be able to make it!
AHHH! This is getting very complicated! I never would have thought 10 months in advance would be short notice! Sorry had to vent!

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
even though a Sunday will be cheaper than a Saturday, I prefer Saturday. On Sunday people try to rest up from Fri & Sat before going back to work on Mon. People do not stay long at a Sunday wedding than Saturday.

Re: Decission time...Day wedding. Have it Saturday or Sunday on Memorial Day weekend.
It really depends on what you want. If it is a holiday weekend then people will have Monday to rest before going back to work. I have been to a wedding on Labor Day as well as a few on a non-holiday Sundays and people stayed for the duration. Hope this helps...Oh yeah, I'm getting married on a Sunday too

If you are having a day wedding, how much time do people need to rest to get to work on Tuesday. They have the night of your wedding and the next day or next two days.Welcome New Vendors
