Anyone at SandCastle? Decided to official book at SandCastle for my e-party in May 2005!

I'm so excited. I will be booking at the SandCastle for my e-party. I love it there. We are having the cocktail hour downstairs and for the party upstairs. It's gorgeous upstairs. Has anyone been to a party upstairs? How does the smoke look when making the grand entrance? During the Vienesse Hour how did they present it? The banquet manager told me they raise a wall w/ sparklers of some sort. Any insight or info, fill me in. I was there in Feb. for my cousin's Sweet 16 and was in awe. Give me you opinion, especially about upstairs. Thanks

I'm not sure...he said they lit it up in some way. I asked about the sparklers downstairs, but they said they didn't do it anymore. He gave me the impression that they do some lighting effect when presenting the Vienessine table. Have you ever been to SC? If so, how did they bring out the Viennese? I have the upstairs room and he said the wall in the back goes up.

My brother's wedding was upstairs in Feb 03, that was before they redid it. Everything was wonderful...They did not have the smoke nor the vienesse so I can't help there...They haven't had one complaint only ccmpliments on their wedding....Their cocktail hour was downstairs & there was just so much food....My brother did have the coffee station & they opened the wall to your right when you walk in for that....Hope this helps

I saw it on Sunday--I was there for a really over the top christening. There werent sparklers....the lights went out in the skylight room, and then the wall on the left facing side was raised up and they used all black lights & stuff to display the Vieneese hour. It was really beautiful! The food was absolutely perfect at Sandcastle--one of the best cocktail hours I've ever seen!

Re: Anyone at SandCastle? Decided to official book at SandCastle for my e-party in May 2005!

Dinner was great..I actually hacve the menu with me right now in my pocketbook (I'm at work being a bad, bad employee!).

The menu was:

Appetizer:
Antipasto plate (delish!!)

Pasta:
Penne Filetto di Pomedoro
(didnt have it b/c I am doing no carbs, but my dad ate mine and said it was great!)

Salad:
Choice of Tri-color or Greek
( I was really amazed we had a choice!!! The waiters came around with big bowls of the salad and placed it on you plate with tongs. I had the greek which was excellent...great olives & lots of feta)

Entrees:
Rack of lamb
shell steak
stuffed jumbo gulf shrimp
stuffed breast of chicken
grilled salmon
grilled vegetable platter.

(I had the steak---it was perfectly cooked and the waiter actually remembered that I requested no potatos on myplate, and he gacve me double vegetables instead. The one thing that really stood out was that the portions were so huge! I felt like I was eating a steak from a steakhouse)

cake w/bananna & strawberry filling

full vieneese hour

I'd like to say again that this was for a CHRISTENING. It was outrageous. We also got THREE seperate favors!

Hope this info helps!

Wow....that sounds absolutely magnificent. Thank-you so much for the update. The man made it appear that it was some kind of lightening effect, but I wasn't sure whether he was refering to sparklers or not. Wow....that must have been soooo awesome....Sounds great. Thank-you again. I got a really good idea now as to what he meant.

OMG....That's basically what I'm having. Except I'm debating between Ceasar or Greek and I will be having a Tiramisu e-cake.

What do you think is better Caeasar or Greek? I'm having the tri-color, but I'm not sure whether my Italian family would prefer the Ceasar or the Greek. I Greek salad.

I love Ceasar and Greek! I dont know what I'd choose...maybe Greek because it's different. My family is Italian too--and lots of them ordered the tri-color.

Most in my family would go for the tri-color also. You think if I'd get Greek people would wonder why I didn't get the Ceasar? I'm not sure how your family is, but my family is always putting their two sense into everything. Maybe I should start a poll.
