Re: What is the average price for invitations and how far in advance should I buy them?
I hear I paid too much!$630 for 135 (bi-lingual though)
Took only 2 weeks for mine to arrive.
I wanted them in 3 months before my wedding to give myself time to label them.

I am buying 50 and am paying $160, including reponse cards. But we are not getting reception cards, since we don't need them.I was told mine would take 5-7 business days to get.

Re: What is the average price for invitations and how far in advance should I buy them?
there is a huge range in prices for invitations depending on the quality--type of paper, type of printing, type envelopes, etc. i think i paid $550 for $100 invites. I could have gotten much cheaper and much more expensive ones. I ordered mine several months in advance because I had them custom designed, but you can order from a lot of places that can have them for you in 1-2 weeks. Just make sure you give yourself enough time to assemble them, address them, stuff them, etc. Most people send invites out about 2 months in advance of the wedding. Your reply date is usually about 1 month before the wedding date and usually you want to give the people about a month to respond.

I paid about $400 for 175 invitations. I ordered them 7 months before my date, and they came in about 2 and half weeks after I ordered them!

I paid $561 for my Encore invitations. I spent more than I wanted to, but I think it was well worth it. I loved my invitations!

So how far in advance should you order your invites? And exactly what is 'custom made'?I haven't started looking yet - so I'm not sure.
Thanks

The only thing I can add is that prices differ when you order. For instance, I ordered my invitations in March, and if I waited 2 months, I would have saved $50.So I guess, like flowers, invitations can be 'in season'... lol

Re: What is the average price for invitations and how far in advance should I buy them?
Ours were about $420 for 150 invites, reception cards and response cards. We ordered them about a month ago, I got them in a week and sent them out the next week. I guess I waited until the last minute, but I felt like I had plenty of time to get them out.

We spent $400 for 150 invitations (that included everything and seals). We ordered them in Feb. 2004, got them in 2 weeks and mailed them out at the end of June.

Re: What is the average price for invitations and how far in advance should I buy them?
Prices will vary as you are seeing in this thread. It will depend on your budget, how important they are to you, the quality and of course quantity. We ordered our invites about 6 months in advance - they required some assembly and we wanted plenty of breathing room just in case a reprint was necessary (it wasn't). It took 3 weeks for our invites to come in.
