Re: QOTD: whats the worst/best date you ever went on?...

Hmmm....I would say the best date would be a first 'date' with an ex, we had hung out and talked a bit, but this was our first date out....he took me to Mama Lombardi's for dinner.....we didn't wait at all--apparently he 'knew' someone....then in the middle of dinner, he surprised me with Bon Jovi tickets for a few months later!!

Re: QOTD: whats the worst/best date you ever went on?...

hmm....The best I went on was in college when a guy I had liked for so long took me to the Science Center. It's one of those places for kids where all of the activities are hands on--we had such a great time building a dam made out of bricks, etc. Then we went to a lake and he taught me how to fly fish, but the hook got caught in my back and I had to go get it removed! You know how good a date it was to end like that and still be the best.

First date with FH was also great--he was so nervous which was so cute. We went out to dinner and I had just moved here so he drove me all around showing me everything...We wound up at the beach and just sat there in his car for hours talking and listening to Dave Matthews CDs...And that will be 4 years ago on our wedding month!

Re: QOTD: whats the worst/best date you ever went on?...

I had a few really nice dates, mostly first ones.

One guy took me to the US Open for our first date. That was fun and very different.

Another guy had been leaving flowers in my car annonymously for about two weeks before he had the nerve to ask me out. They were really different kinds of flowers though - daisies and sunflowers, etc. At the end of our date, he went around to the back of the car and got a yellow rose out of the back of the trunk and said Yeah, it was me. It was really sweet!

I remember first date with DH so clearly and the best part about the date, was that he called me at work at about 10am the next day (date hadnt' even ended until about 3am!!) and asked me out for that night. It was so refreshing to be with a guy who didn't play games.

Re: QOTD: whats the worst/best date you ever went on?...

The best date I have been on was my first date with FH. We had never met in person (we met playing an online video game believe it or not).

He picked me up at my house. It was late October. We got in the car and took a drive out East, this was a beautiful crisp autumn day. We both had on jeans and sweaters. We stopped at one of the pumpkin farms out east and picked pumpkins. (he held them all like a gentleman) After a while of that, and wonderful, unforced, natural conversation, we went to dinner at the restaurant that is NOW Eddie G's in the Miller Place area. It was somethign else than, and we liked it much better before they changed it. After dinner he dropped me off at home.

We have been inseparable since.

Re: QOTD: whats the worst/best date you ever went on?...

Best date was with an ex-boyfriend. He took me into the city to see Yanni and then we took a carriage ride around the park. It was awesome.

Worst dates? Well, I have a few...

Guy I had been dating for about a month asked me to dinner with a group of our friends for New Year's Eve at some expensive steakhouse. This was in high school and I didn't know enough to take money/cc with me. Anyway we get there, everyone starts to order. He turns to me and he's like 'Uhhh, do you have any money?'. I was like 'Huh??'. He didn't bring a single dollar. Had to ask his 'friends' to buy him a soda because he didn't have anything on him. I was sooo pissed, I dropped him off and took off for the night. He had the nerve to ask me when I broke up with him later on why I was ending the relationship?!?

Another guy I went out with didn't have a car and I had to pick him up from Huntington. It was a blind date my friends had hooked me up with. He didn't bother to shower before our date and he smelled like stale milk. Another penniless loser who didn't have any money to do anything. So I 'sprung' for McDonalds and drove him around all night. He must have thought he had the pipes of Frank Sinatra because he began singing to every song on the radio (I had a VH tape in at the time). I got sick of him and dropped him off. I was so disturbed about the whole evening that I tossed the VH tape out the window because I was afraid I could never listen to it again without hearing him sing over the lyrics...

Re: QOTD: whats the worst/best date you ever went on?...

The worst date I ever been on was when I went on a blind date with a guy that my friend''s mom set me up with. ( this should have been my first clue, but I felt really uncomfortable refusing my friend's mom's protege)

Anyway, the guy showed up to pick me up looking like he just rolled out of bed, never even open the car door for me. ( I mean this is the first date, if you are looking to impress a girl, now is a good time).

Luckily, I told him right away that I am not hungry and we should just have a cup of coffee. So, we are sitting in this little cafe and I am nursing my coffee and the guy starts talking about his ex-wife, how she screed him over, how much he loved her, how he married her even though she already had a child, and how she left him for another man and what a ***** she is etc etc etc. This goes on for about an hour or more. I continue sipping my coffee and thinking of where to get the shoes for an upcoming wedding of a friend where I was the maid of honor. ( i remember distinctly that I zoned out and that's exactly what I was thinking of )

Then a new lovely detail comes out. Apparently, the ex-wife screwed him up so badly that he ended up in a mental facility for 6 months with sever nervous break down. This is where I get really alert and say that I should really be going.

So, we get in his car and he starts asking me if I think this is going anywhere! I politely tell him that while I think he is a 'great, sensitive guy and has a lot to offer to any woman, him and I are just too different in our outlook on life!' This is where he freaks out and starts getting really pissed of and asking me in a very agitated manner if I think he is not good enough for me! I assure him that I don't to which he replies that all woman are like that, they all think they are too good to go out with him and we are missing a really great opportunity! At this point I am starting to worry that he will freak out and kick me out of the car right in the middle of Queens Boulevard! But he calms down and just drives.

We pull up to my building, he asks me again if I am sure I don't want to go out with him again. I WAS SURE I DIDN'T. He says goodbuy and drives off.

True story. But the way, the girl who's mother set me up with the creep is still one of my best friends...

Re: QOTD: whats the worst/best date you ever went on?...

Well, 2 of my best dates ever were 6 months apart, both at Disney's California Grill. Its on the 15th floor of the contemporary and overlooks the magic kingdom. Not only is it the best food I've ever had, but it's SO romantic, sitting at a table for two by th4e window, looking at the park light up, and then cuddling during the fireworks. The first time FH took me there it was actually the night before he proposed and he told me later that that night was so romantic that he'd wished he had the ring on him b/che would have propsed right then and there. The second time was 6 months later and we were there during the fireworks again. We also saw the water show go by a few times. We were celebrating our 5 yea anniversayr and we got a huge, delicious slice of cake for free. I just love it there, and I can't really tell you why.

The worst date, if you can call it that, is probably when (and actually with this guy I have a few that rival this) I was ahning out with my ex and he dragged me to go to the box office because he had to buy tickets to see a broadway show with his family, and he didn't tell me this, but I knew his 'ex' girlfriend was going with them. Another one that rivals that was the time he showed up with an overnight bag, initally telling me his mom kicked him out b/c she didn't approve of him dating me, when actually he was spending the weekend with his 'ex'. He has some nerve. Needless to say, i couldn't dump this guy fast enough.
