Who printed their own envelopes?

I am having so much trouble trying to do this on my own. Did you print each envelope one at a time? I've done a few practice runs on scrap envelopes and when I put the real ones in; I ruined two. They just won't line up right in my printer. I found the most beautiful font and I can't do it!
I'm so frustrated!!!!
Any advise. I don't want to ruin anymore good envelopes. My wedding is 11/24/04 but I wanted them out by Sept 1 since my RSVP is Nov 1.

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

I did mine in MS Word also. I created the right size, used the same font as the print on my invitations. I then merged it with my list and carefully checked each one. I then printed onto a test paper, until I got the exact position and size. After that, I printed them one at a time. They came out beautiful. When I did my inner envelopes, some came out a tad high. When I did the outside envelopes, they all came out perfect.

One trick, make sure that the feeder selection in your print setup and in Word match to how your printer feeds.

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

I used MS word...but since the envelopes were a little thick I had to physically feed them into the printer...they would not feed automatically!

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

I just created the page size in MS WORD. Do not try to do it through the envelopes and lables option--you will drive yourself insane. @ least I did because ours was a square size and that is not an option in tools!

We found an awesome font and did it in gray to match the invite imprint.

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

Are you all using Ink Jet printers or laser? My graphic artist friend told me that jet printers (like my own Lexmark at home) won't print waterproof. I'm still deciding whether we'll have her printer print them out or use my FMIL's husband's calligraphy hand.

I had go to file print properties and where it says type I had to select plain paper. My envelopes were a strange size. This worked for me.

I used MS Word and actually used a font called Marriage Script.

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

So I guess it worked?

When we did ours I couldn't use my inkjet printer (the envelopes where too thick even with 1 envelope at a time). So we tried it on my DH (he has a photo printer) and it worked. They came out very very nice, espeically I found the font that matched exactly - I was impressed

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

Gals, I am wondering where you're finding these unique fonts. Someone sent a link to interesting fonts to download for free, but nothing has moved me there. In case you want/need it, it's: http://www.themeworld.com/fonts/decart.shtml

Anyway, my MS Word doesn't have Marriage Script or other choices I was looking for (not even Lucida Calligraphy) although Monotype Corsiva is nice...

The font shown via a picture added here is very pretty. Can you let me know what it's called? I'm guessing the diff. is which version of Word one has? Thanks to my office's helpdesk, I have been able to custom size my envelope in Word and have many addresses already added in, using Monotype Corsiva..hoping it'll work for me once I get my envelopes in a few days.

Thanks so much for your help, folks!

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

Know what I did? I got clear labels and printed them out for the envelopes. I used 'Lucinda Calligraphy' (in MS Word-TOOLS-ENVELOPES AND LABLES) as the font. Sounds cheesy but looked kinda nice, you couldn't really see that is was a label (maybe a little but not like a regular white label). And I thought that I needed to cut unimportant corners so I had the money for other stuff and who really cared about the envelope people were going to throw away within 30 seconds of opening it?! But, by now you probably got it all figured out. Just a thought!

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

I used the edwardian script font. you have to make it really large though. Everyone loved the font and thought they were done by hand by a calligrapher. Whatever you do, don't do it in envelopes and labels. just go into page setup & adjust the margins to the size of your invitation's outer envelope. It took us forever to figure that out---envelopes and labels will greatly restrict your margins

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

Well, I used the envelopes and labels and they came out pretty nice. But, it's all on what you prefer. I've been getting compliments on them.

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

I don't think endlesslove meant don't use labels on your envelopes...I think she meant don't use the labels and envelope setting on the MS word program!

Re: Who printed their own envelopes?

Too late now! Wish I woulda asked before. I did use the MS Word. Like I said tho, it did come out pretty nice and dainty like (yeah, like I'M so dainty!) I used that only because I was afraid of using the envelope itself since there aren't that many extras, I didn't want to mess those up. But thanks for the advice!
