Does Target give store credit on an opened item/no receipt?

I bought a baby gate for the puppy but it doesn't stay up on my wall. Can I get store credit to get something else if the box is opened?

Probably, especially if you explain that its not working correctly. They might offer to exchange it for another model, or something.

If they dont take it back, you could contact the company customer service hotline, usually printed on the box, and explain your problem and they can tell you how to get $$ back

Usually when you don't have a receipt, they'll give you credit for the ssame department.

But if you paid by credit card, they can put it back on the card even without the receipt.

I was going to try to find a play pen gate instead of a regular gate so that will work.

BTW, tape the box closed just for the heck of it!

If I remember right, the one time that I returned something at Target, they scanned the item's barcode and the credit printed up automatically (without them having to swipe my credit card). I was pretty impressed!
I had a receipt, but give it a try - they may give you a refund without the receipt.
