Re: OOT Guest Gift Bags

I got white plain bags from Michaels... Punch out 2 holes on the top of each and tied a black& white ribbon bow... then put 2 heart stickers near the right corner of each bag...all supplies and bags cost approx $35 and that was for about 40 bags...
we will put candy, snacks, water, tylenol, etc... in them...

Re: OOT Guest Gift Bags

Just curious are the bags supposed to be given even if the OOT guests are staying in a hotel rather than your home. When should the bags be given? Sorry if its a stupid question.

Re: OOT Guest Gift Bags

I'm actually going to do boxes instead of bags. I worried that all my effort in putting together the bags might go to waste if the hotel just stuffs them all under the desk--you know how those bags get kind of wrinkled. There was a picture of it in In Style a while ago--it was a brown box with a blue ribbon and a sticker with a pic of the couple on top.

Re: OOT Guest Gift Bags

My mom and I bought all our stuff at Cosco. We made the packages out of wire bread baskets and wrapped them up in cellaphane tied with a bow. We put

2 bottles of water
1 packet of Fruit snacks
1 apple
1 orange
1 pack of gum
1 packet of trail mix
2 Kellogg's Nutri-grain breakfast bars
1 packet of oreos, ritz or cheez its
1 baggie full of candy
1 individually wrapped coffee cake
A guide of things to do and see on LI (Got these from Uniondale Marriott)

We made about 20 baskets for less than $200. I will post a pic tomorrow, it's on my work computer.

Edited to add pic:
This a a picture of one of the larger baskets we made for DH's godmother. The others were smaller and we used round wire baskets.

Re: OOT Guest Gift Bags

I went to the dollar store and bought nice cheap gift bags. In them I put:

2 bottles of water, two bags of chips, two bags of cookies, a bag of crackers, some assorted lifesavers, cream savers, mints, a pack of gum, and a packet of tylenol (really came in handy for a lot of people the next day). We bought everything in bundles at price club. Everyone loved the bags. They were so unexpected and everyone thought they were a great touch and came in very handy because they had a lot of snacks for their room!!

Re: OOT Guest Gift Bags

OOT bags have been the funnest thing for me so far!!

I'm putting in there:

a Eucalyptus-scented packet of bath salts

a vanilla-scented travel candle in a tin container

Long Island Iced-Tes flavored lip balm

Map of Port Jefferson

Stamped LI post card

$10 gift card to Starbucks

Water

Aspirin

I only have about 12 bags to make

Re: OOT Guest Gift Bags

I bought really cute bags at Target - very Martha Stewart and only 99 cents!!

Then we went to Costco and raided all the isles. I had water bottles, chips, cookies, trail mix, mentos, pretzels, asprin, rice krispy treats, etc... And I also went to Michaels and got nice paper and wrote a note and tied it in a ribbon to put in the bag. We dropped them off at the hotel the day before.
